Executive Summary
From 2010 to 2012, Westlake Academy has continually increased its diploma success rate. Of the 2012 seniors, 96.4% of the students sat for the full
diploma, bringing the three -year average to 91.5% (see Table 1 & Figure 1). This fulfills strategic plan objective 2.21 within the desired timeframe.
The DP program will strive to continue to meet or exceed the 90% goal during the next examination session.
The 2012 DP students achieved an 88.9% pass rate, which is above both the WA Faculty Prediction and the World Rate, achieving strategic plan
objective 2.12 (see Table 1 and Figure 1). This increase is partially due to the expanded course offering, a more experienced faculty and a more
clearly defined set of expectations for diploma students by faculty and students themselves. WA is on track for graduating a maximum number of
students with an IB Diploma on an annual basis. However, every graduating class has different strengths and weakness that can affect performance
outcomes.
The 2012 DP average subject score was above the world averages in all subjects except SL Spanish and SL Mathematics (See Table 2 & Table 3).
Also, the 2012 DP students achieved a mean diploma score slightly lower than the world average (See Table 4 & Figure 2). Therefore we have met
the Strategic Goal 2.1 .13 only in part at this time.
The goal for academic performance in DP this year is to maintain our excellent achievements to date and continue to focus on the areas where
improvements can be made.
90% will test for the complete panel of Diploma Program exams
80% of graduates achieve the IB Diploma by 2015
Students will achieve at a level that exceeds the national average relative to other IB schools

with the upcoming release of the 2012 IB Diploma Program Statistical Bulletin. The 2012 DP students exceeded faculty predictions in every subject except SL Environmental
Systems and SL Mathematics.
