Trustees and will be enacted with one motion. There will be no separate discussion of
items unless a Board member or citizen so requests, in which event the item will be
removed from the general order of business and considered in its normal sequence.

e. Consider approval of Resolution 12-15, Amending the Proof of Residency Policy
for Westlake Academy.

g. Consider approval of Resolution 12-17, Supporting the Charter School
Intervention in the Current School Finance Litigation.
h. Consider approval of Resolution 12-19, Amending the 2012-2013 School
Calendar.

Subject: Consider a Resolution Amending the Adopted 2012-2013 School
Calendar.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
On March 5, 2012, the school administration proposed a school calendar for the 2011-13 year. It
has come to our attention that the dates specifically notated in the 2012-13 school year, required
a minor amendment. The previously scheduled secondary conference day on October 26th
(which was designated as an early release time) was combined with the primary conference day
on October 5th and March 22 nd is now designated as conference day for both primary and
secondary. These changes do not conflict with any customary holidays or times where staff
would expect a conflict with travel periods. The calendar will be distributed to parents and
faculty with a brief explanation of the alterations next week.

RESOLUTION NO. 12-19
A RESOLUTION OF THE WESTLAKE ACADEMY BOARD OF TRUSTEES
ADOPTING AN AMENDMENT TO THE 2012-2013 SCHOOL CALENDAR.
WHEREAS, the Westlake Academy Board of Trustees has considered the
proposed amendment to the 2012-2013 school calendar; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees finds that the passage of this Resolution is in
the best interests of the Academy and the public;
WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees finds that the passage of this Resolution is in
the best interest of the citizens of Westlake as well as the students, their parents, and
faculty of Westlake Academy.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF
WESTLAKE ACADEMY:
SECTION 1: That the Board of Trustees of Westlake Academy hereby adopts
the ame nded 2012-13 School Calendar (Exhibit ‘A’).
SECTION 2: That this Resolution shall become effective upon the date of its
passage, but contingent upon approval by the TEA.
SECTION 3: If any portion of this resolution shall, for any reason, be declared
invalid by any court of competent jurisdiction, such invalidity shall not affect the
remaining provisions hereof and the Council hereby determines that it would have
adopted this Resolution without the invalid provision.

SECTION 4: That this resolution shall become effective from and after its date
of passage.
