Parkland Dedication Ordinance
Is a tool that:
Assists in implementing the Town’s Comprehensive Plan as
development occurs
Is integrated with Comprehensive Plan & PD zoning
Create a parks and trails system
Land or cash options
Supports the growth paying for growth
Credits developers for private parks
Why Now?
Development is slow
More difficult when multiple zoning, site plans and
development projects are in progress
If not Adopted
Town would have to fund parks & trails either with operating or
bond funds
Voluntary dedication by developers
Town may have more private open space then public accessible
open space and trails
Policy Question for Town Council
Do we want a tool that allows us to add
– via development –
funds or land for a Town park & trail systems
Next Steps
With guidance from the Town Council on the
Parkland Dedication Ordinance
Staff will proceed with recommendations
relative to the water & sewer impact fees
