➢ Use external expertise to educate the board members on human resource,
financial, and other operational risks, before creating board policy
➢ Discuss with fellow board members to decide what is an un acceptable level of risk

using "any reasonable interpretation" of the board policies

➢ Review the New Board Member Manual to ensure they
understand their responsibilities;
➢ Receive presentations at least twice annually from staff in the
Town / Academy in order to understand the various business
components of the organization
