OATH OF OFFICE.
4. ADJOURNMENT
ANY ITEM ON THIS POSTED AGENDA COULD BE DISCUSSED IN EXECUTIVE
SESSION AS LONG AS IT IS WITHIN ONE OF THE PERMITTED CATEGORIES UNDER
SECTIONS 551.071 THROUGH 551.076 AND SECTION 551.087 OF THE TEXAS
GOVERNMENT CODE.

RESOLUTION NO. 12-19
A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF WESTLAKE,
TEXAS, APPOINTING MICHAEL BARRETT TO FILL THE VACANCY FOR A ONE
(1) YEAR TERM FOR THE POSITION OF COUNCIL MEMBER FOR THE TOWN OF
WESTLAKE, TEXAS.
WHEREAS, Section 22.010 of the Local Government Code governs the filling of a
vacancy on the Council Member in a Type A General Law Municipality; and
WHEREAS, There currently exist a vacancy on the Town Council; and
WHEREAS, The vacancy occurred due to no applicants filing to run for the position
vacated by Mr. Tim Brittan in the May 12, 2012, General Election; and
WHEREAS, The Town Council desires to fill the vacancy of in the most expeditious and
efficient way prescribed by law.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE
TOWN OF WESTLAKE, TEXAS:
SECTION 1: That, all matters stated in the Recitals hereinabove are found to be true
and correct and are incorporated herein by reference as if copied in their entirety.
SECTION 2: That the Town Council of the Town of Westlake, Texas does hereby
appoint Michael Barrett to fill the vacancy for a one (1) year term and that Michael Barrett will
serve until the next regular municipal election held in May 2013, in the Town of Westlake,
Texas.
SECTION 3: If any portion of this Resolution shall, for any reason, be declared invalid
by any court of competent jurisdiction, such invalidity shall not affect the remaining provisions
hereof and the Council hereby determines that it would have adopted this Resolution without the
invalid provision.

SECTION 4: That this resolution shall become effective from and after its date of
passage.
