Special Services:
In the event that a Westlake Academy student is expected to be confined for a minimum of
four consecutive weeks as documented by a licensed physician, Westlake Academy may
provide Homebound instruction. This arrangement/setting is for providing special or
general education to students who are served at home or hospital bedside and may also
be provided to chronically ill students who are expected to be confined for any period of
time totaling at least four weeks throughout the school year.
Westlake Academy may name a qualified teacher as a tutor who will, in accordance with
stipulated TEA procedures, act as a liaison with the student's regular classroom
teacher/s to provide necessary information and instruction for the student to continue
with the regular Westlake Academy program of study. In this case, and with the aid of
posted assignments on the school website, the tutor will aid the Homebound student in
any way that will aid said student to understand, complete and return assignments. In
accordance with TEA standards, each hour of Homebound instruction will equal one day
of regular school attendance and four hours will equal one week's attendance. The
Academy will be responsible for reporting this on its PEIMS attendance and the student
will be counted as present.
