HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes 07-08 WA Retention of current students in the Secondary Boundaries WESTLAKE ACADEMY -- RESOLUTION NO. 07-08 A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF WESTLAKE ACADEMY, AUTHORIZING THE RETENTION OF CURRENT STUDENTS WHO WERE ACCEPTED IN THE PAST BUT WHO RESIDE OUTSIDE THE CURRENT SECONDARY GEOGRAPHIC BOUNDARY ESTABLISHED BY THE ORIGINAL CHARTER; AND THE RETENTION OF ROBERT A. SCHULMAN OF THE LAW FIRM OF FELDMAN AND ROGERS TO REPRESENT THE ACADEMY IN MATTERS RELATING TO THE EDUCATION CODE. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF WESTLAKE ACADEMY: WHEREAS, five current students of Westlake Academy currently reside outside the secondary geographic boundary established by the Academy's original charter; WHEREAS, the Academy has applied to the Texas Education Agency for a waiver of the February 1 deadline for amending the Charter to include in the secondary geographic boundary the area in which these students reside, which waiver has been denied; WHEREAS, the Academy continues to seek the waiver; WHEREAS, the Board determines that it is in the best interest of the children and the community that these children be allowed to remain at the Academy even if the Texas Education Agency does not reimburse the per diem amount associated with the attendance of these students for the 2007-2008 school year. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE WESTLAKE ACADEMY: SECTION 1. That the five children identified as being enrolled in the Academy who do not reside in the secondary geographic boundary are authorized to return for the 2007/2008 school year, regardless of whether the Texas Education Agency elects to reimburse the Academy for the per diem costs associated with these students. SECTION 2: That this Resolution shall become effective upon the date of its passage. PASSED AND APPROVED ON THIS 25th DAY OF JUNE, 2007.
