HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes 11-11 WA Authorizing the TM to nego the purchase or lease of an additional portable classroom for a media center WESTLAKE ACADEMY RESOLUTION 11-11 A RESOLUTION OF THE WESTLAKE ACADEMY BOARD OF TRUSTEES PROVIDING DIRECTION TO THE SUPERINTENDENT RELATED TO FACILITY NEEDS CONCERNING AUTHORIZATION TO PURSUE OPTIONS, INCLUDING LEASE/PURCHASE OF AN ADDITIONAL PORTABLE BUILDING, FOR A TECHNOLOGY/MEDIA CENTER. WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees of Westlake Academy is charged with planning for various campus facility needs as it relates to providing educational services to Academy students that provide for high academic achievement; and, WHEREAS, as such, the Academy's Superintendent, in implementing this Board charge, has identified the need to evaluate for the 2011-12 school year the need for a technology/media center for Academy students, subject to fiscal constraints; and, WHEREAS, the Superintendent will conduct this evaluation over the months of June and July, 2011 in concert with the budget preparation process, including use of existing buildings for a technology/media center; and, WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees, due to its 2011 meeting schedule, has determined that authorizing the Superintendent to make this evaluation, and if determined necessary, to lease/purchase a portable building, for a technology/media center for the 2011-12 school year; and, WHEREAS,that the Board of Trustees fords that that the passage of this Resolution is in the best interest of the citizens of Westlake as well as the students, their parents, and faculty of Westlake Academy. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF WESTLAKE ACADEMY: SECTION 1: That, all matters stated in the recitals hereinabove are found to be true and correct and are incorporated herein by reference as if copied in their entirety. SECTION 2: That, the Board of Trustees Westlake Academy, hereby approves this resolution subject to any Board ratification required at its August 2011 regular meeting should the lease/purchase of another portable building for a technology/media center be determined by the Superintendent, per the authorization contained in this resolution, to be the best option for addressing this facility need. SECTION 3: If any portion of this resolution shall, for any reason, be declared invalid by any court of competent jurisdiction, such invalidity shall not affect the remaining provisions Resolution 11-l 1 Page 1 of 2 hereof and the Council hereby determines that it would have adopted this Resolution without the invalid provision. SECTION 4: That this resolution shall become effective from and after its date of passage. PASSED AND APPROVED ON THIS 6th DAY OF June, 2011.
