AN ORDINANCE RECEIVING AND ANNEXING TERRITORY
ADJACENT AND CONTIGUOUS TO THE TOWN OF WESTLAKE
TEXAS; PROVIDING THAT SUCH AREA SHALL -BECOME A
PART OF SAID TOWN.AND THAT THE OWNERS AND
INHABITANTS THEREOF SHALL BE ENTITLED TO ALL
THE PRIVILEGES OF OTHER..CITIZENS OF SAID TOWN,
AND BE BOUND BY THE ACTS AND ORDINANCES NOW IN
EFFECT AND TO BE HEREINAFTER ADOPTED; FURTHER
PROVIDING -FOR AMENDING AND CORRECTING THE
OFFICIAL BOUNDARIES OF SAID TOWN AS HERETOFORE
ADOPTED.AS AMENDED, AND PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE..
- WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of the Acts of 1953,
53rd Legislature, Page.357, Chapter -93, codified as Article
974-G, Revised Civil Statutes -of Texas, J. Glenn Turner and
wife, Sue Reeder Turner, Harry Seeligson and wife, Nadie Johnson
Seeligson, and Alvin M. Owsley and wife, Lucy Ball Owsley, owners
of the real property hereinafter described having; made application
as by law provided to the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the Town
of Westlake, Texas, requesting annexation of the lands lying within
a 0.358 square mile tract of land, more or less, out of the C.
Medlin A-823'Survey, the J. R. Michael A-821 Survey and the W.
H. Pea A-1045 Survey, Denton County, Texas, and being more fully
described by metes and bounds as follows:
BEGINNING at a point in the center of county road
leaving the town of Roanoke and at the common corners
of the J. Eads Survey A-392, W. D. Medlin Survey A--829,
C. Medlin Survey A-823 and the J. Sutton Survey A-1154,
said point of beginning being also in an easterly line
of the present corporate limits of the town of Westlake,
Texas and the northwest corner of the herein described
tract;
THENCE East with the north line of the C. Medlin Survey
A-823 a distance of 2415 feet more or less to a point
for corner in the east line of the Alvin M. Owsley
353.5 acre tract;
THENCE S to E and with the east line of said Owsley
tract a distance of 770 feet more or less to a point
for corner in the south line of county road leaving
the town of Roanoke;
THENCE N 850 301 W and with the south line of said
county road a distance of 1100 feet more or less to
a point for corner, said point being the northwest
corner of the Medlin Cemetery and the northeast'
corner of the J. Glenn Turner 119.18 acre tract;
THENCE S oO 06t W with the east line of said Turner
tract and west line of said cemetery a distance of
770 feet more or less to a point for corner at the
southwest corner of Medlin Cemetery; .
THENCE S 770 E with the south line of said cemetery
a distance of 433.33 feet to a point for corner and at
the southeast corner of cemetery;
THENCE N 00 45' W with east line of said cemetery a
distance of 802.22 feet to a point for corner in the
south line of county road leaving the town of Roanoke;
THENCE S 770 E with south line of said county road and
crossing east line of C. Medlin Survey A-823 and con-
tinuing on for a distance of 1830 feet more or less to
a point for corner at the northeast corner of the
Harry G. Seeligson 14-77 acre tract out of the J. R.
Michael Survey A-821;
THENCE S 00 15' E with the east line of Seeligson
tract and crossing the south line of said Michael
Survey and continuing on for a distance of 2315 feet
more or less to a point for corner in the W. H. Pea
Survey A-1145., said point being in the northeast line
of the present corporate limits of the town of Westlake
and 200 feet northeast of and perpendicular to the
northeast line of State Highway No. 144;
THENCE N 710 151 W following the present corporate
limits and 200 feet northeast of and at all times
parallel to the northeast line of said highway, a
distance of 23301 more or less to a point for corner
in the West -line of the Harry G. Seeligson 62.43 acre
tract and the east line of the J. Glenn Turner 119.18
acre tract out of the C. Medlin Survey A-823;

THENCE N 00 06l E with the east line of said Turner
tract and west line of said-Seeligson tract to a point
for corner; said point being 600 feet northeast of and
perpendicular to the northeast line of State Highway
No. 114;
THENCE northwesterly 600 feet northeast of and at all
times parallel to the northeast line of said highway
to a point for corner, said point being in the West
lines of the J. (inn Turner 119.18 acre tract and the
C. Medlin Survey A-823;
THENCE north with the said west lines and the center -of
a county road into Roanoke a distance of 935 feet more
or less to the point of beginning and covering a tract
of land containing 0.358 square miles. It is the intent
of this herein described tract to cover all of the
Alvin M. Owsley 47.25 acre tract; the north 65 acres
of the J. Glenn Turner 119.18 acre tract and the north
73.5 acres of the Harry G. Seeligson 82.43 acre tract
out of the C. Medlin Survey A-823 and all of the Harry
G. Seeligson 14-77 acre tract out of the J. R. Michael
Survey A-821 and the north 28.35 acres of the Harry G.
Seeligson 30.05 acre tract out of the W. H. Pea Survey
A-1145, also the county road facing the Owsley and Turner
lands is included.

of Westlake, Texas, being attached hereto marked EXHIBIT "A"; and
WHEREAS, said petition was filed with the Town of Westlake at
03 3:00 P.m. on December 29, 1956, which is not less than five

and not more than thirty (30) days prior to this date; and
LZ WHEREAS, it appearing to the Board of Aldermen of the Town
< of Westlake., Texas, that all statutory requirements in connection
a with said proposed annexation have been fulfilled and that the
z said area duly grouped into one territory is not more than 1/2
mile in width and that all of same is adjacent to the present Town
U) Limits of the Town of Westlake, Texas;
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE TOWN OF
WESTLAIM,, . TEXAS.
I.
THAT, the property hereinabove described being adjacent
and contiguous to the Town Limits of Westlake, Texas, be and is
hereby annexed and brought within the Corporate Limits of said
Town and is hereby made an integral part thereof.
2.
THAT, the owners and inhabitants of the area herein annexed
be entitled to all of the rights and privileges of other citizens
and property owners of said Town and be bound by all of the acts
and ordinances made in conformity thereto, now in full force and
effect and that which may be hereafter adopted.
3.
THAT, the official map and boundaries of the Town of Westlake
Texas, as heretofore adopted and amended, be and is hereby amended
so as to include the aforementioned territory as part of the
Town of Westlake, Texas.
4.
THIS, ordinance shall become effective and be in full force
and effect from and after its passage and approval by the Mayor
and duly attested by the Town Secretary.

PETITION REQUESTING ANNEXATION OF LAND CONTIGUOUS AND
ADJACENT TO THE TOWN OF WESTLAKE, TEXAS
To the Honorable Mayor and Members of the Board of Aldermen of the
Town of Westlake, Texas.
GREETINGS:
We, the undersigned, J. Glenn Turner and wife'Sue Reeder
Turner, Harry Seeligson and wife, Nadine Johnson Seeligson, and
Alvin M. Owsley and wife, Lucy Ball Owsley, of Denton County,
Texas, hereinafter called Pet:lffLoners represent as follows:
1. That they are the Owners of the lands lying within
a 0.358 square mile tract o' land situated in the C. Medlin A-823
Survey, the J. R. Michael A-821 Survey and the W. H. Pea A-1045
Survey, Denton County, Texas, fully described by metes and bounds
as shown in Exhibit "A" attached hereto.
A plat of said land showing its location with respect to
the boundary of the Town of Westlake, Texas, is attached hereto
marked EXHIBIT "B".
2. That, the land described in EXHIBIT "A" and "B" hereto
attached, is less than one-l-ialf mile in width; that less than three
qualified voters reside thereon, and is contiguous and adjacent to
the Town of Westlake, Texas.
3. Your petitioners agree that if this request for annexa-
tion be granted, said land shall become a part of the Town of Westlake,
Texas., and the said land arid any future inhabitants thereof' shall be
entitled to all the rights and privileges of other citizens of the
Town of Westlake, and shall be bound by the acts and ordinances of
said Town, now in effect and as hereafter enacted.
WHEREFORE, your petitioners respectfully request that this
Petition for Annexation to the Town of Westlake., of the land des-
cribed in attached EXHIBITS be gran ted.
