HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrd 32 Limiting the kepping, harboring and rasing of hogs and swineORDINANCE NO. 32 AN ORDINANCE LIMITING THE K-EEPING, HARBORING AND RAISING OF HOGS AND S1,,UNE WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE TO OF lvfESTLAIM, TEXAS; PROVIDING A PENALTY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, the raising of hogs or swine in unlimited quantities within the Limits of the Town will create a nuisance and a hazard to the public health and welfare; and the Board of Aldermen have determined that it is pro- -- for government o"' the Town and in the best interest per for the goveri I and general welfare of the Town and its inhabitants to pro- mulgate certain limitations concerning the raising and har- boring of such animals within the Limits of the Town; NOW, THEREFORE., BE IT ORDAINED BY = BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE TOWN OF 1ATESTLAM,1, TEXAS: 1. It shall be unlawful for any person to keep, harbor or raise within the Limits of the Town more than two (2) hogs or swine per acre of landholdings of such person within the limit;s of the Town, or to construct, erect or maintain any pen or other enclosure for such animals which is not less than one thousand feet (1,0001) of any property adjoining the property of the person :veep ing, harboring or raising such animals and not less than one thousand feet (1,0001) from any public road within the Limits of the To-vm. 2. Any person who shall violate any of the provi- sions of this Ordinance, or shall fail to comply therewith or with any of the requirements thereof, shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor., and any such person upon receipt of written notice from the Mayor of the Tovm. specifying such person's violation OJ-'-' or failure to comply with this Ordinance shall be liable to a fine, and upon conviction of any violation shall be fined in -any sun of not more than One Hundred Dollars ($100.00); and each day any such violation shall be permitted to -exist shall constitute a separate and distinct offense. McGUIRE, Mayor of the 'Town of Westlake, Texas, by virtue of the power vested in me by law do hereby publish this notice of the adoption by the Board of Aldermen of the Town of Westlake on January 2, 1965 of Ordinances No. 32, No. 33, No. 34 and No. 35, certified copies of each of which are attached hereto; and do hereby direct and instruct the Marshal to post for at least ten (10) days a properly executed copy of this notice with the attached certified copies of Ordinances in the three public places within the Town where notices of elections for the Town of Westlake have heretofore been posted.
