HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrd 27 Annexing 10.33 acres of State Highway 114ORDINANCE NO. 27 AN ORDINANCE RECEIVING AND ANNEXING TERRITORY ADJACENT AND CONTIGUOUS TO THE 'TOWN OF WESTLAla, TEXAS AND PROVIDING FOR AMENDING AND CORRECTING THE OFFICIAL BOUNDARIES OF SAID TOWN AS HERETOFORE ADOPTED AS AMENDED, AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of Title 28 of the Revised Civil Statutes of Texas, 1925, 39th Legislature, as amended, after notice as required by law, the Board of Aldermen acting in its official capacity and for the best interests and general welfare of the Town and its inhabitants deem it necessary and advisable that the following tract of land be included within the boundaries of said Town, said tract being described by metes and bounds as follows: 10.33 acres more or less being the right-of-way of State Highway No. 114 adjacent to and along the northeast side of the Corporate Limits of the Town of Westlake, said acreage being in Denton and Tarrant Counties, Texas, out of the following Surveys: W. Medlin, A-1958; J. Henry, A-528; W. H. Pea, A-1045. BEGINNING at a point in the southwest line of State Highway No. 114 and the present cor- porate limits of the Town of Westlake, said point also being the northwest corner of the John A. McGuire 26.8 acre tract out of the W. H. Pea Survey, A-1045; THENCE due north and crossing State Highway No. 114 to a point in the northeast line of said highway; THENCE southeasterly and following the north- east line of said highway to a point in the east lane of the Hrs. of C. M. Throop Survey, A-1510; THENCE due South and crossing State Highway No. 114 to a point in the southwest line of said highway; said point also being in the present corporate limits of the Town of Westlake; THENCE northwesterly and following the south- west line of said highway and the said corporate limits to the point of beginning and containing 10.33 acres, more or less or 0.01614; a plat of said land showing its location with respect to the Town of Westlake, Texas, being attached hereto and marked Exhibit "A"; and WHEREAS, it appearing to the Board of Aldermen of the Town of Westlake, Texas, that all statutory requirements in connection with said proposed annexation have been ful- filled and that the said area is not more than one-half mile in width and that all of said is adjacent to the present Town Limits of Westlake, Texas. BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Aldermen of the Town of Westlake, Texas: 1. THAT, the property hereinabove described being adjacent and contiguous to the Town Limits of Westlake, Texas, be and it is hereby annexed and brought within the Corporate Limits of said Town and is hereby made an in- tegral part thereof. 2. THAT, the official map and boundaries of the Town of Westlake, Texas, as heretofore adopted and amended, be and it is hereby amended so as to include the afore- mentioned territory as part of the Town of Westlake, Texas. 3• THIS ordinance shall become effective and be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval by the Mayor and duly attested by the Town Secretary.
