AN ORDINANCE BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF WESTLAKE, TEXAS,
AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 70 BY ADDING TO IT SECTION IX CALLING FOR
THE ELECTION OF A TOWN MARSHAL; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
THE COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF WESTLAKE, TEXAS, HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION I.
That Ordinance No. 70 is hereby amended by adding Section IX
as follows:
"SECTION IX.
The election to be held on the 6th day of April,
1974, shall include the election of a Town Marshal
for a T (a) year term. The candidate for Town
Marshal receiving the highest number of votes shall
be elected the Town Marshal of the Town of Westlake.
If two or more candidates for Town Marshal tie with
the highest number of votes, the Council shall order
a second election to be held on the fourteenth day
after the first election at which only the names of
the candidates who receive the same number of votes
in the first election shall be printed on the ballot.
In the event of a tie at the second election, the
tied candidates shall cast lots to determine which
one shall be declared elected."
