WHEREAS, on the 3rd day of April, A. D. 1971, pursuant to
the provisions of Title 28, Revised Civil Statutes, the Election Code
of the State of Texas, and Resolution No. 30, heretofore adopted on
the 15th day of February, 1971, after due notice as by law provided,
the General Election to elect a Mayor, Five Aldermen, and a Marshal
for a term of one year was held within the limits of the Town of West-
lake, Texas; and
WHEREAS, on the 12th day of April, A. D. 1971, at a meeting
of the Board of Aldermen of said Town, the results of said Election
were canvassed by the Mayor in the presence of the Board of Aldermen
and said canvass showed the result thereof was as follows:

A. L. Odom

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE
TOWN OF WESTLAKE, TEXAS:
That, the canvass of the result of said Election be, and is
hereby approved, and that George H. Harmon, Jr. having received the
highest number of votes for the office of. Mayor is hereby elected to
said office and is to serve as such officer for the term of one year
from date hereof or until his successor is duly elected and qualified.
That, B. H. Campbell, S. B. Cathey, A. L. Odom, Monroe
Weaver, and Dewey G. Burger, having received the highest number of
votes for the office of Aldermen and D. E. McSpadden having received
the highest number of votes for the office of Marshal, serve as such
officers for the term of one year from date hereof or until their
successors are duly elected and qualified.
That, all such officers are hereby instructed to take
the oath of office as by law provided and file such oaths with the
Town Secretary.
ADOPTED this 12th day of April, 1971.

RESOLUTION FOR MIMBERSIIIP 11.1 THE
NORTH CENTRAL TEXAS COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS
WHEREAS, the area embraced within the physical boundaries of the countie, of Collin,
Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Johnson, Kaufman, Parker, Rockwall, Tarrant, Wise, and Bunt
are all Counties located in the north central region of the State of Tcxas, which have joini
and mutual environmental, economic, social, ov other problems, which do or may require
joint and mutual surveys, studies, plans, and related aciions in order to insure the orderly
growth and development of the region; and
WHEREAS, the above named Counties,as well cis Incorporated municipalities and
special --purpose districis located in tli� above named Counties, comprise the North
Central Texas Council of Governments with the participating membership of the Council
composed of an elective public official from each pori-icipoting local governmental unit
who is designated I)y the respective governing body, accordi,19 to the Bylaws and said
organization has been authorized by the original agreement between the respective govern-
mental units for its creation, as well asenabling legislation in support of the Council of
Governments movement; and
WHEREAS, it is the opinion of the governing body of Town ox' Westlake

that it will be to its benefit and to the benefit of its citizens as a whole to become a partici-
gating member of said organization;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE Board of Aiderrnen of the

SECTION i . That the aforementioned local government ,nay become a participating

member of the North Central Texas Council of Governments,
created for the purposes set out above, and the

authorized to apply for membership in the North Central
Texas Council of Governments by submission of this
Resolution and the payment of the annual dues established
inaccordance with the Bylaws of said organization.
SECTION 2. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after- its
passage.
