HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes 89-01 Supporting a Runway Extension and Installation of an Instrument Landing System at Alliance AirportRESOLUTION # 1-89 WHEREAS, the FAA and the City of Fort Worth propose to extend the runway at the Fort Worth Alliance Airport (the Airport) 1400 feet to the north ("the Extension*); WHEREAS, the Extension will allow heavier aircraft to utilize the Airport by changing the runway length from 8200 feet to: Takeoff on runway 16:: 9600 feet Landing on runway 16: 8200 feet Takeoff on runway 34; 9600 feet Landing on runway 34: 9600 feet WHEREAS, the City of Fort Worth proposes to install an instrument landing system (the ILS) that will serve air- craft approching the Airport from the south; WHEREAS, the Extension and the ILS will further enhance the capability of the Airport to serve the general public and the industry in the surrounding metropolitan area,: WHEREAS, the Extension and the TLS will increase safety, efficiency and reliability at the Airports NOW THEREFORE, the Town of Westlake, Tarrant County, Texas, hereby resolves that the Extension and the ILS -at the Airport will enhance the capability of the Airport to :serve the citizens of the Town of Westlake, Tarrant County, Texas and the general public; FURTHERMORE, the Board of Aldermen of the Town of Westlake, Texas resolves that it is in the best interest of the citizens of the Town of Westlake, Tarrant County, Texas to support the Extension and the ILS at the Airport, FURTHERMORE, in addition to enthusiastically endors- ing the installation of adequate, state of the art, air traffic control aides, we wish to stress our insistence that all air- craft operations be restricted to the north and or west of the proposed Alliance Airport. At no time will normal aircraft operations including traffic patterns, arrivals, or departures be permitted to occur to the south and or east of the proposed airport complex. The only exception to this operation would- be in the case of bona -fide emergency situations. Further, we insist that all noise abatement procedures enacted and required by local, state, national and international authorities be scrupulously adhered to.
