WHEREAS, the Town of Westlake, Texas has recognized
the need for a new east -west freeway connecting IH -35W
and SH 114; and
WHEREAS, the construction of a new controlled access
freeway was authorized by the State Highway and Public
Transportation Commission in Minute Order 86417 dated on
October 28, 1988; and
WHEREAS, this new freeway has been designated as
SH 170; and
WHEREAS, the construction of SH 170 would provide
improved mobility_ to the expanding population and employment
base in North Tarrant and South Denton Counties; and
WHEREAS, SH 170 would provide a vital transportation
link connecting Dallas -Fort Worth Regional Airport with the
new Fort Worth Alliance Airport;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Town of Westlake,
Texas has reviewed the alternate alignments for SH 170 be-
tween IH -35W and SH 114 and supports the constructbn of a
controlled access freeway on the Northern alignment
(Alternative 1) .
