AN ORDINANCE BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE TOWN OF WESTLAKE,
TEXAS CALLING AND ORDERING AN ELECTION TO BE HELD ON THE 7TH DAY
OF MAY, A.D., 1994, THE SAME BEING THE FIRST SATURDAY IN SAID
MONTH, FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING A MAYOR, AND TWO ALDERMEN FOR.
THE TOWN OF WESTLAKE, TEXAS, IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PROVISIONS OF
SECTION 23.023, LOCAL GOVERNMENT CODE; ESTABLISHING THE HOURS AND
PLACE FOR THE SAID ELECTION; PROVIDING FOR THE POSTING OF NOTICE
OF SAID ELECTION; DIRECTING THE TOWN SECRETARY TO MAKE UP THE
OFFICIAL BALLOTS, CAUSING THE SAME TO BE PRINTED AND DELIVERED TO
THE PRESIDING OFFICER; PROVIDING FOR THE CANVASSING OF THE
RETURNS OF THE SAID ELECTION AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE TOWN OF WESTLAKE, TEXAS, HEREBY
ORDAINS:
Section I.
That an election shall be held at the Town Hall, Three
Village Circle, Suite 207 in the Town of Westlake, Texas, between
the hours of seven o'clock (7:00) a.m. and seven o'clock (7:00)
p.m. on the 7th day of May, 1994, A.D., the same being the first
Saturday of said month, for the purpose of electing a Mayor, and
two (2) Aldermen for two (2) year terms for the Town of Westlake,
Texas, in accordance with Section 23.023 of the Local Government
Code.
Section II.
That the two candidates

That notice of said election shall be given by the posting
of true copies of this ordinance, signed by the Mayor and
attested by the Town Secretary, in the Town Hall and in three•
public places of the said Town, for at least twenty (20)
consecutive days prior to the date of said election.
Section IV.
That �'€7NtC L/�fG�TC1�� is he eb appointed
presiding judge of said elec ion, and:
is appointed as the alternate, and the said presiding judge shall
appoint such assistants as may be necessary to properly conduct
said election, as provided by the election code.
Section V.
That the Town Secretary shall make up the official ballot
from the names presented, to her by application as provided by the
election code, and she is hereby authorized and directed to have
the ballots to be used in such election printed and delivered to
the said presiding judge.
Section VI.
That immediately after the counting of the votes and
presiding judge shall deliver the official returns of the
election to the Town Secretary.
Section VII.
That on the Monday next following the election, the Board of
Aldermen shall canvass the returns and declare the results which
shall be recorded i the Minutes of the council.
Section VIII.
That the two candidates who receive the highest and second
highest number of votes for Alderman shall be elected to two (2)
year terms, and the Mayor shall deliver a certificate of election
to the successful candidates, the candidate who receives the
highest number of votes for Mayor shall be elected and the Mayor
Pro Tem shall deliver a certificate of election to the successful
candidate. If two or more candidates for Alderman tie with the
same number of votes so that one or more of the tied candidates
would not be elected to the Position of Alderman or if two or
more candidates for Mayor tie with the highest number of votes,
the Council shall order a second election to be held on t:1tiVE,
fourteenth day after the first election at which only the names
of the candidates who receive the same number of votes at the
first election shall be printed on the ballot. In the event of a
tie at the second election, the tied candidates shall cast lots
to determine which one shall be declared elected. If two or more
candidates for Alderman tie with the same number of votes so that
it can be determined which candidate shall get a two year term
and which shall be elected to a one year term, the candidates
will cast lots to determine to which term they are elected.
