HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrd 248 Amending the Regulation to prevent flood damageORDINANCE NO. 248 AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE TOWN OF WESTLAKE, TEXAS AMENDING SECTION 5.B, OF ORDINANCE NO. 207, AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR FLOOD DAMAGE PREVENTION IN THE TOWN OF WESTLAKE TO REFERENCE THE MOST CURRENT FLOOD BOUNDARY-FLOODWAY MAPS PREPARED BY THE FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY ("FEMA"); AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, FEMA has updated its flood boundary-floodway maps for the Westlake area and has required the Town to adopt the same as part of its flood damage prevention ordinance; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE TOWN OF WESTLAKE, TEXAS: SECTION 1: That Section 5.B. of Ordinance 247 adopted February 2, 1993 and establishing flood damage prevention regulations for the Town of Westlake is hereby amended to read as follows: B. Basis for establishing the areas of special flood hazard. The areas of special flood hazard identified by FEMA in a scientific and engineering report entitled "The Flood Insurance Study for Westlake, Texas", dated September 24, 1995 (Preliminary), with accompanying flood insurance rate maps and flood boundary -flood - way maps (FIRM and FBFM) or any amendments or revisions thereto, are hereby adopted by reference and declared to be part of this ordinance. SECTION 2: That this amendment shall become effective from and after the date of adoption of this ordinance. PASSED AND APPROVED THIS 12m DAY OF FEBRUARY, 1996.
