HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes 98-16 Opposing the Issuance of a Specific Use Permit by the City of Keller for a Radio TowerRESOLUTION NO. 98-16 A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OPPOSING THE ISSUANCE OF A SPECIFIC USE PERMIT BY THE CITY OF KELLER, TEXAS, TO CONSTRUCT A 284 FOOT TALL RADIO TOWER AT 13621 RAVENWOOD DRIVE; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, Chris Hudgins has filed an application with the City of Keller, Texas, for a specific use permit to construct a 280 foot tall radio tower for amateur radio communications on Tract 4T, Abstract No. 592 and located at 13621 Ravenwood Drive, Keller, Texas; and WHEREAS, Tract 4T, Abstract No. 592, 13621 Ravenwood Drive is immediately adjacent to the corporate limits of the Town of Westlake; and WHEREAS, many citizens of Westlake and the Board of Aldermen of the Town of Westlake believe that a 280 foot tall radio tower is an unwarranted intrusion into the residential and rural characteristics of the City of Keller and the Town of Westlake and will be an unsightly structure that is not compatible with surrounding uses of property, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF WESTLAKE, TEXAS: SECTION 1: That the Board of Aldermen of the Town of Westlake on behalf of the citizens and the Town oppose the granting of a Specific Use Permit ("SUP") by the City of Keller, Texas for the construction of a 280 foot tall radio tower for amateur radio communications on Tract 4T, Abstract No. 592 and located at 13621 Ravenwood Drive, and request that the Planning and Zoning Commission and the City Council of the City of Keller deny the request for a SUP. SECTION 2: That this Resolution shall be effective from and after the date of its passage and the Town Secretary is directed to send a copy of this Resolution to the City of Keller, Texas.
