HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes 02-47 Authorizing the Acquisition of an Ambulance and Associated EquipmentTOWN OF WESTLAKE A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN OF WESTLAKE FINDING AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY REGARDING THE PROVISION OF AN AMBULANCE AND ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT; AND AUTHORIZING EXPENDITURES FOR THE COMPLETION OF SAID ACQUISITION. WHEREAS, the Town of Westlake commenced the operation of the Town of Westlake Fire Department during May of 2002; and WHEREAS, the Town of Westlake Fire Department was subsequently lent certain fire apparatus necessary to provide emergency fire services to the Town of Westlake; and WHEREAS, based on the scope of services provided and the geographic limits of the Town of Westlake service area, the Town of Westlake Fire Department must obtain an ambulance and all associated equipment as soon as possible, and WHEREAS, due to circumstances beyond the Town's control, the acquisition of an ambulance was not timely commenced; and WHEREAS, the Board of Aldermen finds and concludes that an emergency exists that requires the immediate appropriation of funds to preserve the property of the Town, to protect the public health and safety of the Town's residents and to preserve the safety of the Town and its citizens; and WHEREAS, the Town Manager's staff has sought and received comparable estimates. for the ambulance; and WHEREAS, this emergency obligates the Town of Westlake to acquire an ambulance in the most efficient, economical manner, the Board of Aldermen finds and concludes that the citizens are best served by the Town completing such work without the necessity of accepting competitive bids pursuant to Chapter 2.52, Texas Local Government Code. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE TOWN OF WESTLAKE, TEXAS: SECTION 1: That all matters in the preamble are found to be true and correct and are incorporated into the body of this Resolution as if copied in their entirety. SECTION 2: An emergency is hereby declared for the acquisition of an ambulance and all associated equipment. SECTION 3: That the Town Manager, or his designee, is authorized and directed to enter into an agreement for the acquisition of an ambulance, with all associated equipment, in an amount not to exceed $140,000.00. Any actions previously taken by the Town Manager in the undertaking of this project are hereby ratified and approved. SECTION 4: This resolution shall become effective upon the date of its passage.
