1. CALL TO ORDER.
President Thornton called the meeting to order at 7:01 P.M.
2. REVIEW AND APPROVE MINUTES OFTHE UVHPSMEETING HELD ON APRIL 8,2014.
Member Brewster read the minutes. President Thornton asked for a motion to approve.
MOTION: Member Mason made amotion tuapprove the minutes. Member White seconded
the motion. The motion carried.
3. BOARD OFFICERS AND CHAIR POSITIONS:
President Thornton handed out anupdated list. Member Thornton volunteered totake onthe
role ofDedication Day Chair.
President Thornton announced that weall must take the Texas Open Meeting training and send
a copy of the certificate of completion to Kelly Edwards at the Westlake town office. He will
send usolink tothe video course.
Treasurer's Report:
Member Brewster presented the WHPS Statement of Activities dated April 30, 2014.

MOTION: Member Zippedenmade amotion toaccept the report. Member Thornton seconded
the motion. The motion passed.
Spring Historical Marker Dedication Day:
The historical marker for Westlake and Cross Timbers region was dedicated on Thursday, May 1
atWestlake Academy. Mayor Wheat read the town proclamation and Rebecca Barksdale read a
proclamation from the Tarrant County Commissioner's office. President Thornton, Member
Thornton and Member White made remarks about the Cross Timbers region and local
cemeteries. Christian McCarthy and junior historians from Westlake Academy attended and led
the attendees inthe pledges ofallegiance. Member Thornton provided delicious cookies as
refreshments.
The next historical marker dedication will be in the fall of this year.
Member Zippedenreported onthe meeting heand Member Mason had with Debbie Piper
and Ginger Awtry regarding the acceptance of credit cards and automatic renewal for
membership and books. The town rejected this proposal but expressed tentative approval
ofour use ofPaypa|instead. Member Zipper|eniscontinuing towork with the town to
provide information tothem about setting upanacoountfurustouse. There will beacost
touse Paypa|: $.3Oper transaction and Z.9Y6ofthe value ofthe transaction. Member
3]ppedenestimates this tobe$ .79for membership dues and will berecouped byadding
$1.00 to membership dues paid via Paypal.
Decoration Day will be held Monday, May 26, from 6:00 to8:00P.M. atthe Odd Fellows
Cemetery nnOttimgerRoad. President Thornton handed out alist oftasks and activities for
discussion. Hesaid that water has been donated and heislooking for asponsor for the hot
dogs. Member Thornton said she will contact Deloitte and request a donation to cover the
hot dogs and ice cream. Abby Bosworth said there are ShurnardOaks atthe nursery where
she works and she'll ask ifshe can get agood deal for us.
There will be a field trip to the cemetery on Sunday, May 11 at 3:00 P.M. and a full
Decoration Day committee meeting at the cemetery on Tuesday, May 20 at 7:00 P.M.
President Thornton said that TD Auto Finance would like to display some ofour museum
window exhibits inthe hallway leading totheir cafeteria. Some exploration will beneeded
tosee ifthis isfeasible.

6. ADJOURNMENT
President Thornton asked for a motion to adjourn the meeting.
MOTION: Member Zipperlen made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Member Brewster
seconded the motion. The motion carried.
