ITEM:
Consider approval of the First Draft of the 2003-04 Westlake Academy Student/Parent
Handbook.
COMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends approval.
BACKGROUND:
Westlake Academy's parent orientation will be 6:00 PM June 16, 2003 at the Marriott Solana.
At that meeting, the staff will present to parents a draft version of the student/ parent handbook.
Staff understands that there will be changes so the first review is being considered a draft and
will be so marked. We hope to finalize in July, so whatever comments or questions this draft
raises, the staff will endeavor to answer.
Although School Board approval is not traditionally sought for draft items, in this particular case
it is important that the Board be aware of the policies proposed in the handbook.
