RESOLUTION NO. 25-03
A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF WESTLAKE, TEXAS,
APPROVING THE TRANSFER OF ONE MILLION DOLLARS ($1,000,000.00) FROM
THE TOWN OF WESTLAKE WESTLAKE ACADEMY FUND FOR CAMPUS CAPITAL
IMPROVEMENTS FOR ATHLETIC FACILITIES TO THE ATHLETIC FIELD
REHABILITATION PROJECT.
WHEREAS, a group of generous donors has expressed a desire for improvements to be
made to the Westlake Academy football and soccer fields, including enhancements to the drainage
system, irrigation improvements for the football field, and synthetic turf, goal posts, and soccer
goals for the multipurpose field; and,
WHEREAS, concerns have been raised by several donors, the Athletic Director, and
members of the Westlake Academy Foundation regarding the current conditions of both fields,
which suffer from significant drainage issues, uneven surfaces, and a mixture of grass and weeds
that pose safety risks to athletes and children; and,
WHEREAS, the Town has a Westlake Academy fund for campus capital improvements
with a balance of $3,234,378, including $1,118,050 specifically reserved for athletic facility
improvements; and
WHEREAS, the Town staff, in collaboration with the Foundation and donors, has
identified the need for rehabilitation of the fields with an estimated project cost of $1,614,688 ,
and is requesting Town assistance not to exceed $1,000,000 towards this endeavor.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN
OF WESTLAKE, TEXAS:
SECTION 1: That all matters stated in the Recitals hereinabove are found to be true and
correct and are incorporated herein by reference as if copied in their entirety.
SECTION 2: That the Westlake Town Council/Board of Trustees of Westlake Academy
does hereby approve the transfer of $1,000,000.00 from the Westlake Academy fund for campus
athletic facility improvements to the Athletic Field Rehabilitation Project.
SECTION 3: If any portion of this Resolution shall, for any reason, be declared invalid
by any court of competent jurisdiction, such invalidity shall not affect the remaining provisions
hereof and the Council hereby determines that it would have adopted this Resolu tion without the
invalid provision.
SECTION 4: That this Resolution shall become effective from and after its date of
passage.
