WESTLAKE ACADEMY
RESOLUTION NO. 24-08
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF WESTLAKE ACADEMY
AUTHORIZING THE ADDITION PAYMENT TO ENGLISH I/II TEACHER
COMPENSATION FOR 9TH AND 10TH GRADE STUDENTS IN A READING I CLASS
WHO NEED ADDITIONAL READING SUPPORT AND AMEND THE BUDGET, AS
NECESSARY.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF WESTLAKE ACADEMY:
WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees is required to adopt a compensation plan for the
employees of Westlake Academy; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees approved resolution WA 23-15 on July 31st, 2023,
adopting the employee compensation plan for the fiscal year 2023-2024; and
WHEREAS, a graduation requirement in the state of Texas is that students pass the
English I and II End of Course (EOC) Assessment; and
WHEARAS, it is recommended that students need additional reading support through
the creation of a Reading I class; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees finds that the passage of this Resolution is in the best
interest of the citizens of Westlake as well as the students, their parents, and faculty of Westlake
Academy.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF
WESTLAKE ACADEMY:
SECTION 1: That, all matters stated in the recitals hereinabove are found to be true and
correct and are incorporated herein by reference as if copied in their entirety.
SECTION 2: That the Board of Trustees of Westlake Academy hereby amends the
budget for the Westlake Academy Employee Compensation Plan for the fiscal year 2023-2024.
SECTION 3: That a copy of the official 2023-2024 Employee Compensation Plan
shall be kept on file in the office of the Town Secretary and posted on the Westlake Academy
website.
SECTION 4: If any portion of this Resolution shall, for any reason, be declared invalid
by any court of competent jurisdiction, such invalidity shall not affect the remaining provisions
hereof and the Council hereby determines that it would have adopted this Resolution without the
invalid provision.

SECTION 5: That this resolution shall become effective from and after its date of
passage.
