HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrd 362 Canvassing Special ElectionTOWN OF WESTLAKE ORDINANCE NO. 362 AN ORDINANCE CANVASSING ELECTION RETURNS OF THE SPECIAL ELECTION HELD ON MAY 612000, TO ELECT ONE (1) ALDERMAN FOR THE TOWN OF WESTLAKE, TEXAS. WHEREAS, an election was duly ordered to be held in the Town of Westlake, Texas, on the 6th day of May, 2000, for the purpose of electing one (1) Alderman for an unexpired terra to the Board of Aldermen of the Town of Westlake, Texas; that proper notice of the election was duly given; that proper election officers were duly appointed prior to the election; that the election was duly held; that due returns of the result of the election have been made and delivered; and officers of the Town of Westlake have duly canvassed the returns all in accordance with law; and WHEREAS, Mayor Bradley, Alderman Bush, Alderman Held and Alderman Redding met and canvassed the vote on May 9, 2000; and WHEREAS, officers of the Town of Westlake officially find and determine that only resident, qualified electors of the Town were allowed to vote at the election and the following votes were cast at the election for each candidate and write-in, there being no other eligible person receiving any votes at this election. THEREFORE, DE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF WESTLAKE, TEXAS: SECTION 1: That the Board of Aldermen officially finds and determines that an election was duly ordered to be held in the Town of Westlake, Texas, on the 6th day of May, 2000, for the purpose of electing one (1) Alderman for an unexpired term for the Town of Westlake; that proper notice of the election was duly given; that proper election officers were duly appointed prior to the election; that the election was duly held; that due returns of the result of the election have been made and delivered; and that the returns have been duly canvassed, all in accordance with law. SECTION 2: That the Board of Aldermen of the Town of Westlake officially finds and determines that only resident, qualified electors of the Town were allowed to vote at the election and the following votes were cast at the election for each candidate and write-in, there being no other person receiving any votes at this election. ALDERMAN: Larry J. Sparrow 40 Votes SECTION 3: That the Board of Aldermen officially finds, determines and declares the results of the election to be that Larry I Sparrow is elected as Alderman for an unexpired term, and received the proper number of votes to be elected; and is elected to the Board in accordance with law. WHEREAS, an election was duly ordered to be held in the Town of Westlake, Texas, on the 6" day of May, 2000, for the purpose of electing one (1) Alderman to fill an unexpired term on the Board of Aldermen of the Town of Westlake, Texas; proper notice of the election was duly given; proper election officers were duly appointed prior to the election; the election was duly held; due returns of the result of the election have been made and delivered; and the undersigned officers of the Town of Westlake have duly canvassed the returns all in accordance with law; and WHEREAS, Mayor Bradley, Alderman Bush, Alderman Held and Alderman Redding met and canvassed the vote on May 9, 2000; and WHEREAS, the undersigned officers of the Town of Westlake officially find and determine that only resident, qualified electors of the Town were allowed to vote at the election and the following votes were cast at the election for each candidate and write-in, there being no other eligible person receiving any votes at this election. ALDERMAN Larry J. Sparrow 40 votes THEREFORE, the undersigned officially find, determine and declare the results of the election to be that Larry J. Sparrow is elected as Alderman to fill an unexpired term, and received the proper number of votes to be elected, and is elected to the Board of Aldermen of the Town of Westlake in accordance with law.
