ACADEMY BOARD OF TRUSTEES COUNCIL PLANNING WORK SESSION
SEPTEMBER 16, 2021
PRESENT: Mayor/President Laura Wheat, Mayor Pro Tern Carol Langdon,
Council/Board of Trustee Members Chandrika Dasgupta, Alesa
Belvedere, Rajiv Trivedi (arrived at 9:33 am), and Anna White.
OTHERS PRESENT: Town Manager/Superintendent Amanda DeGan and various staff
members
1. CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Wheat called the meeting to order at 8:48 am.
2. PRESENTATION AND DISCUSSION REGARDING THE VISION FOR THE TOWN OF
WESTLAKE AND WESTLAKE ACADEMY
Town Manager Amanda DeGan, and various Town and Academy staff provided various
presentations related to the following:
a. Growth of School
b. Facility Analysis Report
C. Vision/Mission Discussion — Proposal from Staff
d. Enrollment Impact & Budget
e. Primary and Secondary Enrollment — Lottery Wait List
3. WRAP-UP / STAFF DIRECTION
Move residential survey forward — include facilities expansion
Assess appetite for a tax increase to remove portables
Determine tipping point for Westlake residents and the waiting list
Tell IB story from retreat to parents
4. ADJOURNMENT
Mayor Wheat adjourned the meeting.
