memberships. We also discussed how to get more people to purchase a membership through

5. Old Business
a) Pony Express Living History Presentation —The Board must consider if we will
continue to have the Living History Presentations in the evenings or discuss doing
them during the school day for the history classes and WHPS members to
increase attendance.
6. NEW BUSINESS
a) Historical Marker Dedication Day —The Dedication day will be held Saturday,
April 6, at 2 PM at the Westlake Academy gazebo near the circle drive, and we
will be dedicating the marker to be installed in honor of The Possum Trot School
at the corner of Dove Rd. and Pearson Ln. It will be held at the school since there
is no parking at this location and in celebration of Westlake Academy's 10 year
anniversary. President Schultz also presented, for the Board's review, the
historical presentation of the Westlake and the Cross Timbers marker, which will
be held in the Fall. The Board discussed Marker Dedications to be part of
established local events, as we move forward, instead of having a specific event
for them.
b) Westlake Arbor Day Participation — President Schultz asked for volunteers to
man the WHPS table at Arbor Day on April 20 from 3:00 to 7:00. Wanda
Brewster and Member Brady agreed to do it (Wanda will work from 2:45 to 5:15
and Member Brady will work from 4:45 to 7:00).
c) Decoration Day Program — Decoration Day will be held on Monday, May 27, 5:00
— 7:30PM at the Westlake Academy Gym and Commons Area. At 6:30, the event
will be moved inside the gym. Solera Holdings has donated $1000 for Decoration
Day. President Schultz presented the program. Members Stoltenberg and Brady,
along with Wanda Brewster make up the committee to enhance the event for
families. Some of the ideas include cotton candy, a craft, face painting, a bounce
house, and a pie -eating and/or baking contest. President Schultz is asking for a
"full court press" in publicizing this event, with a goal of turning out 250 to 300
persons.
d) Outreach to Trophy Club Proposal — Wanda presented her plan for outreach to
Trophy Club.
The next meeting will be held Monday, April 22, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. at the Museum.
