HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes 07-35 Establishing the Population of the Town of WestlakeTOWN OF WESTLAKE RESOLUTION NO. 07-35 A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE TOWN OF WESTLAKE, TEXAS, ESTABLISHING THE POPULATION OF THE TOWN OF WESTLAKE. TEXAS. WHEREAS, the Texas Department of Transportation has agreed to post Town limit signs, which indicate the estimated population of the Town; and WHEREAS, the results of the 2000 census currently reflect the population of the Town of Westlake, Texas, at 207; and WHEREAS, according to the 2007 Population Estimate reports issued by the North Central Texas Council of Governments, the North Central Texas Region has averaged just over 150,000 in growth per year since the 2000 census; and WHEREAS, as the Town's population has increased since the 2000 census, and the next census will not occur until 2010, it is necessary for the Town to calculate the population and adopt a resolution to establish the increased population of the Town, and WHEREAS, Town staff is estimating the current population to be 703, based on the estimated number of 251 Westlake and Non -Westlake water customers multiplied by the estimated number of individuals per household at 2.8. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE TOWN OF WESTLAKE, TEXAS: SECTION 1. The above findings are found to be true and correct and are incorporated herein in their entirety. SECTION 2. The Board of Aldermen of the Town of Westlake does hereby approve the estimated population in the Town of Westlake to be 703 citizens for the purposes of new signage to be posted at the Town limits. SECTION 3. This Resolution shall become effective upon its date of passage PASSED AND APPROVED ON THIS 11TH DAY OF JUNE 2007.
