Westlake Academy would look very different without charitable contributions! The following is an overview of the Foundation’s initiatives as of April 30, 2019: BLACKSMITH ANNUAL FUND (BAF) • Parent-focused campaign to raise critical annual operating funds • Gifts and pledges to date = $1,071,800 • Majority of BAF gifts continue to come via North Texas Giving Day - 422 gifts = $805,678 - Fees of $29,506 partially offset by $18,280 in Bonus funds and donor- covered fees; WAF funds balance so 100% gift goes to BAF • Corporate matching gifts estimated to reach $75,000 by fiscal year-end. • Current overall participation is at 82% with 80.2% of new families giving. • Grade Captains continue to reach out to remaining non-donor families. WESTLAKE BAJA at VAQUERO • Golf-focused outing and party held at Vaquero Club in Westlake • Proceeds support school grant requests; priority use is to retain and develop Academy teachers. • This year’s Baja raised $245,305 in total. • Sponsorships totaled $95,000 for the WAF discretionary “grant pot.” • This year’s requested Fund-an-Item was to provide Legacy Teacher Fund appreciation awards. A matching gift challenge netted $84,930; coupled with Live Auction proceeds of $65,375, a total of $150,305 was contributed specifically for the Legacy Teacher Fund. GALLERY NIGHT • Benefit auction, dinner and party at TMS with “Birthday Bash!” theme. • Fun night of gourmet food and cocktails, live entertainment, and amazing auction items, including incredible student classroom art created with professional Artists-in-Residence • Proceeds used for teacher grants and special school initiatives. • Gross proceeds total $353,000 including nearly $113,000 for this year’s Fund an Item, a second 71- passenger seat bus.
