MINUTES FOR THE
WESTLAKE HISTORICAL PRESERVATION SOCIETY
March 5,2019

PRESENT: President Morris, Paula Thornton, Stephen Thornton, Patricia Rapp,Jon White
ABSENT: Daniel Zipperlen
1. CALL TO ORDER.
President Morris called the meeting to order at 6:11 p.m.
2. REVIEW AND APPROVE MINUTES OF THE WHPS MINUTES HELD ON February 5, 2019.
Minutes were read.
MOTION: Member S Thornton made a motion to approve the minutes.
Member White seconded the motion.The motion carried.
3. COMMITTEE REPORTS
a. WHPS Website &Social Media
Social media strategy for WHPS. John Sasser has updated the WHPS website to include
a picture a historical marker and a video of the event. New logo mock-up has been sent
to BrandEra and they will present a few options for us to review. Ginger and Jon
presented an article to Simply Westlake for the April issue about the time capsule.
b. Treasurer&Membership Reports
No changes to membership for January or February. Expenses and revenue for
treasurer report are unchanged. As of this date,the plan will be to incorporate
membership renewals along with the member's reception invitation.
4. OLD BUSINESS
S. NEW BUSINESS
a. WHPS time-capsule update: Members Reception/time capsule: At the property of the
Town Hall; it is not a place eligible for serving alcohol. The base of the time capsule is
too large to fit through the town hall doors. An alternative base will be located. The
quilt has not been located. Members reception tentative date: April 25th 2019
Thursday. Trio will play for$200 if the date of the 25th is open for them.

b. Fire Station opening: WHPS will not have assigned duties, but the expectation will be to
wear your name badge and attend and help out during the day.
c. Storage Unit:-A day will be coordinated (March 19) to assess the items in the storage
unit. It will be determined the historical significance of items and will need to identify
specific items. Considering placing some items to be on loan to other organizations.
6. ADJOURN MEETING
President Morris asked for a motion to adjourn the meeting.
MOTION: Member White made a motion to adjourn the meeting.
Member P Thornton seconded the motion. The motion carried.
President Morris adjourned the meeting at 7:17 p.m.
The next scheduled meeting of the Westlake Historical Preservation Society Board will be
Tuesday,April 2, 2019, at 6:00 p.m. at the Council Chambers, 1500 Solana Blvd.,
Building 7, Suite 7100,Westlake Texas 76262.
