RESOLUTION 18-46
A RESOLUTION BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF WESTLAKE,
TEXAS, APPROVING THE ACCEPTANCE OF THE GENEROUS GIFT TO ASSIST IN
FUNDING OF THE PYP SCIENCE PROGRAMME, BY THE DAVIDSON FAMILY IN
HONOR OF THEIR LATE SON SAWYER DAVIDSON.
WHEREAS, the Town Council (Council) desires to encourage support through
utilization of private donation, gifts and other private funding sources to enhance the Westlake
Academy programs; and,
WHEREAS, the Council finds the acceptance of this generous gift for the PYP science
program is in the best interest of the Town of Westlake and Westlake Academy and its citizens;
and,
WHEREAS, in addition to accepting this generous gift, the Council desires to approve
the naming of the PYP Science Lab, which is currently located in the PYP II building at the
Westlake Academy campus, and the meets the criteria of the Town Council's Facilities Naming
Policy; and,
WHEREAS, the Council desires to name this the Sawyer Davidson PYP Science Lab;
and,
WHEREAS, the Town Council finds that the passage of this Resolution is in the best
interest of the citizens of Westlake.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN
OF WESTLAKE, TEXAS:
SECTION 1: That all matters stated in the Recitals hereinabove are found to be true and
correct and are incorporated herein by reference as if copied in their entirety.
SECTION 2: That, the Town Council of the Town of Westlake, Texas, hereby accepts
this generous gift of$25,000.00 to the Town to be used for the PYP Science Program at the
Westlake Academy and approves the naming the PYP Science Lab located in the PYP 11
Building at the Westlake Academy Campus as the Sawyer Davidson PYP Science Lab; all of
which is in accordance with and meets the criteria of the Town Facilities Naming Policy:
SECTION 3: If any portion of this Resolution shall, for any reason, be declared invalid
by any court of competent jurisdiction, such invalidity shall not affect the remaining provisions
hereof and the Council hereby determines that it would have adopted this Resolution without the
invalid provision.

SECTION 4: That this resolution shall become effective from and after its date of
passage.
PASSED AND APPROVED ON THIS 26TH DAY OF NOVEMBER 2018.
