Definition of Public Place
Any area in which the public is invited or permitted,
including, but not limited to, businesses, educational
and government facilities, health care facilities,
restaurants, public transportation facilities, parks,
park facilities, trails, trailheads, right of ways, and
reception areas.
Proposed Ordinance
Prohibits smoking in public places with the three folloing three exceptions:
Outdoor designated smoking areas
Cigar Lounges and/or retail smoke shops
Private Clubs
Proposed Ordinance would classify Westlake as Moderately Prohibited.
This would build off the original Smoke Free Ordinance, and increase the
restrictions to a much greater extent.
Does not affect residential property owners ability to smoke in their own homes.
Outdoor Designated Smoking Areas
These will be determined by the Property Owners.
Requirements:
Must be 100 feet from any entrance or exit.
Must notify the Town as to the location of the outdoor designated
smoking area.
Must provide for extinguishment and disposal of cigarette butts.
Must post signage identifying the designated smoking area.
