Work Session
1. CALL TO ORDER
President Wheat called the work session to order at 5:03 p.m.
2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
President Wheat led the Pledge of Allegiance to the United States and Texas flags.

3. RECOGNIZE AND HONOR AP SCHOLAR STUDENTS
Mr. Stoyanoff and Dr. Owen provided an overview of the requirements.
The following students were recognized:
Samuel Beauchamp, Madison Breazeale, Mauricio Canales, Braden Deras, Meredith
Donatto, Jill Egli, Grant Gibbs, Jax Hernandez, Ana Ichazo, Niko Laohoo, Carson Rhoads,
Nick Robinson, Hana Selvarathinam, John Withers, and Allie Woo.
Mr. Stoyanoff and Dr. Owen recognized the AP Scholars with Honor:
Marissa Brann, Avi Gupta, Story Kimura, Daniel Martinez Murill, and Shelly Suttles.
Mr. Stoyanoff and Dr. Owen then recognized the AP Scholars with Distinction:
Trevor Adkins, John Albritton, Marshall Baker, Hunter Barnard, Nicholas Bellinger, Luke
Bertaux, Shaejbir Bhatia, Omar Bukhari, Sophia Carino, Aidan Cawthra, Jillian Foltz, Emily
Henderson, Samuel Jung, Connor Kraska, Andrew Martin, Leelee Odom, Macy Orman,
Anishka Peter, Amareesa Robinson, Stratford Small, Alisha Somani, and Matthew Titzler.
4. DISCUSSION ITEMS
a. Presentation and discussion regarding the 2018 Westlake Academy (WA) student
performance on International Baccalaureate (IB) and Advanced Placement (AP)
assessments.
Dr. Owens and Mr. Stoyanoff provided a presentation and overview of the item.
Discussion ensued regarding the results in conjunction with the world average, the
disciplines of Math studies, Bonus Points, grading of extended essays, uses of
predicted grades, Washington Post not publishing rankings, and the comprehensive
Geography resources.
b. Presentation and discussion regarding STARR and EOC results.
Mrs. Paquin and Mrs. Furnish provided a presentation and overview of the item.
Discussion ensued regarding testing results and Accountability Ratings.
S. BOARD RECAP / STAFF DIRECTION
Reports mining additional data regarding IB scores back to 2010 by boundary, arrival
date, and how many did and did not obtain the IB diploma.

6. ADJOURNMENT
President Wheat adjourned the work session at 6:11 p.m.
