MINUTES FOR THE
WESTLAKE HISTORICAL PRESERVATION SOCIETY
August 21,2018

PRESENT: President Stephen Thornton, Paula Thornton, Kim Morris, Patricia Rapp, Daniel
Zeppelin
ABSENT:Jon White and Tom Miller

1. CALL TO ORDER.
President Morris called the meeting to order at 6:33 p.m.
2. REVIEW AND APPROVE MINUTES OF THE WHPS MINUTES HELD ON JUNE 12, 2018.
Minutes were read.
MOTION: Member Rapp made a motion to approve the minutes with some changes.
Member Zipperlen seconded the motion. The motion carried.
3. TREASURER'S REPORT.
Member Morris presented the budget for the 2018-2019 fiscal year.
MOTION: A motion was made by Member Rapp to accept the budget as presented.
Member Zipperlen seconded the motion. The motion carried.
4. MEMBERSHIP REPORT.
None.
5. OLD BUSINESS.
None.
6. NEW BUSSINESS AND COMMITTEE REPORTS.
Historical Marker and Dedication:
None.
Classic Car Show:
Jerrod Greenwood discussed some changes he made to the Classic Car Show. He said
NAPA had confirmed, he was waiting on Sewell for comments, and sponsorships were
discussed. The restaurants who sponsored last year are expected to do so again. Texas
Motor Speedway are also working with Mr. Greenwood for auction items as well as an
email blast advertising our auction items. After a long conversation about the proposed
shirts the board generally agreed to accept Mr. Greenwood's suggestions on them. Post
cards were discussed for promoting all three WHPS Fall events. No action was taken.
Constitution Day:
President Thornton reported that all basic elements for Constitution Day were in place
and site validation for the event with Cushman Wakefield had been made. President
Thornton stated his difficulty getting in contact with Louise Pastusek and requested
Member Rapp to get back with Mr. Pastusek in confirming himself as a speaker for
the event. Member Rapp agreed to do so.

Future Ideas and Purchases
None.
Veteran's Day
President Thornton confirmed speakers John Spahr and Jerry Stewart for the event and
the Westlake Academy Multi-Purpose Hall was confirmed as the site for the event, to be
held Sunday, 17, 2018 at 5:30 p.m.
Presidential Position:
President Thornton resigned his position as President of WHPS and is to assume a
position as a board member.
Motion: Member Daniel Zipperlen made a motion to accept the resignation of
President Stephen Thornton. Member Patricia Rapp seconded the
motion. The motion carried.
Motion: Member Stephen Thornton made a motion to nominate Member
Morris as WHPS president. Member Daniel Zipperlen seconded the
motion. The motion carried.
7. Adjourn Meeting
President Morris asked for a motion to adjourn the meeting.
MOTION: Member Zipperlen made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Member Miller
seconded the motion. The motion carried.
President Morris adjourned the meeting at 8:57 p.m.
The next scheduled meeting of the Westlake Historical Preservation Society Board will be
Tuesday, September 5, 2018, at 6:30 p.m. at the Council Chambers, 1500 Solana Blvd.,
Building 7, Suite 7100, Westlake Texas 76262.
