HomeMy WebLinkAbout12-05-17 WHPS Min 1 J MINUTES OF THE WESTLAKE HISTORICAL PRESERVATION SOCIETY December 5,2017 Council Chamber 1500 Solana Blvd., Building 7,Suite 7100 Westlake,Texas 76262 PRESENT: Becky Fisher,Tom Miller,Trish Rapp, Paula Thornton and Daniel Zipperlen ABSENT: President Stephen Thornton and Jon White GUESTS: Ginger Awtry, Pooch Amy and his daughter, Echo Amy 1. CALL TO ORDER. Member Zipperlen called the meeting to order at 6:36 P.M. 2. REVIEW AND APPROVE MINUTES OF THE WHPS MEETING HELD ON OCTOBER 4, 2017. There was no WHPS meeting in November 2017. Member Rapp read the minutes. MOTION: Member Miller made a motion to approve the minutes. Member Thornton seconded the motion. The motion carried. 3. TREASURER'S REPORT. No Treasurer's Report 4. CLASSIC CAR SHOW. Ginger Awtry asked whether the board felt the Kids Korral should be continued next year? Members Zipperlen and Rapp felt the firemen,fire truck and the fire hose were a big hit. Suggestions were made to limit the number of other activities. Guest Pooch Amy mentioned a photo op he has seen at other car shows where people could dress in costumes of the period. Starbucks in Trophy Club was very accommodating and helpful by supplying coffee and all the supplies needed. 5. NEW BUSINESS AND COMMITTEE REPORTS. Membership Report: No change in membership. Members Reception: Discussion was held regarding whether to open the reception to guests or just to members. Member Rapp mentioned that last year we sent an invitation letter to all the WHPS members which also provided an opportunity to renew their membership. Historical Marker: Member Thornton said the old farmhouse on their property would be the next historical marker dedication on April 14, 2018 around 2 p.m. Member Zipperlen suggested we table the topic since President Thornton was not present. WHPS Website&Social Media: Member Zipperlen said John Sasser is doing a great job of promoting events and taking video,as well as, live streaming. Guest Awtry mentioned she and Jon Sasser will be revamping the Town's website. She suggested this would be good time if Member Zipperlen wanted to make changes to the WHPS website. Simply Westlake: Member Rapp has been writing an article for the magazine each month. Guest Awtry informed us the Town and the Academy get eight pages in the magazine each month. She suggested Member Rapp add the Pathway magazine to her reference material for articles.The magazine would like for residents to submit more articles and photos. Future Ideas and Purchases: Member Zipperlen said the video camera and charger are both dead and that he and President Thornton will research a new video camera. MOTION: Member Rapp made a motion to allocate$500 for the purchase of anew video camera and charger. Member Miller seconded the motion. The motion carried. 6. ADJOURNMENT: Member Zipperlen asked for a motion to adjourn the meeting. MOTION: Member Miller made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Member Thornton seconded the motion. The motion carried. Member Zipperlen adjourned the meeting at 7:30 P.M.
