BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING
January 29, 2018
PRESENT: President Laura Wheat, Trustees: Carol Langdon, Wayne Stoltenberg, Michael
Barrett and Alesa Belvedere. Rick Rennhack arrived at 5:50 p.m.
ABSENT:
OTHERS PRESENT: Superintendent Tom Brymer, Board Secretary Kelly Edwards,
Director of Information Technology Jason Power, and
Communications Manager Jon Sasser.
Work Session
1. CALL TO ORDER
President Wheat called the work session to order at 5:14 p.m.
2. EXECUTIVE SESSION
The Board of Trustees convened into executive session at 5:14 p.m.
The Board of Trustees will conduct a closed session pursuant to Texas Government
Code, annotated, Chapter 551, Subchapter D for the following:
a. Section 551.071 (1): Consultation with Attorney to seek advice about (A) pending or
contemplated litigation; or (B) a settlement offer: TEA Dkt. No. 088-SE-1217

3. RECONVENE MEETING
Mayor Wheat reconvened the meeting at 6:55 p.m.
4. TAKE ANY ACTION, IF NEEDED, FROM EXECUTIVE SESSION ITEMS.
MOTION: Trustee Stoltenberg made a motion to approve Legal Counsel to
proceed with the filing of a counter claim regarding the item as
listed on the agenda: TEA Dkt. No. 088-SE-1217 Student v.
Westlake Academy Charter School. Trustee Barrett seconded the
motion. The motion carried by a vote of 5-0.
S. ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business before the Board, President Wheat asked for a motion to
adjourn the meeting.
MOTION: Trustee Rennhack made a motion to adjourn the regular session.
Trustee Langdon seconded the motion. The motion carried by a
vote of 5-0.
President Wheat adjourned the regular session at 6:57 p.m.
