SECURITY ENHANCEMENT OPTIONS FOR WESTLAKE ACADEMY •The addition of a Full-time School Resource Officer at Westlake Academy. •Permanently assigned to the campus, enhanced understanding of routines and protocols •Traditional approach to a non-traditional learning environment and campus •Approximate cost $111,000 for a single officer annually •Creating a Westlake Police Sub-station at Westlake Academy. •Provide a check-out location for officers assigned to patrol and conduct traffic enforcement for the Town of Westlake enhancing police coverage in the Town. •Enhances police presence with officers checking out at the location 24/7 providing an engagement platform with students, staff, and parents. •Non-traditional and greatly enhances current approach. •Approximate cost $25,000 SECURITY ENHANCEMENT OPTIONS FOR WESTLAKE ACADEMY •Collaborative training and team building between Westlake Academy and Keller Police Department staff. •Westlake Academy and Keller Police Department have programs in place to address threats and incidents on the campus. •Joint training and team building opportunities ensure awareness of one anothers goals and roles relating to preparedness, training, and response. •Enhance officer engagement with the students at Westlake Academy. •Strongest tool in securing Westlake Academy •Strong law enforcement student relationships enhance the learning environment. RECOMMENDATIONS FOR IMPROVING CAMPUS SECURITY •Create a Westlake Police Sub-station at Westlake Academy. •Design and implement a collaborative training program that engages Westlake Academy and Keller Police Department staff and when appropriate Town of Westlake staff . •Enhance officer engagement throughout all grade levels. Design programs that bring officers into the classrooms. QUESTIONS?
