MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF
THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE
TEXAS STUDENT HOUSING AUTHORITY
(AN INSTRUMENTALITY OF THE TOWN OF WESTLAKE) HELD March 2, 2017

PRESENT: Board members Scott Bradley, Mark Harrow, Bryant Fisher,
Randy Quick & Executive Director Tracy Schomack.
1. CALL TO ORDER.
President Bradley called the meeting to order at 6:32 pm
2. REVIEW AND APPROVE MINUTES FOR THE MEETING HELD January 17, 2017.
DISCUSSION: Director Fisher made a motion to approve the minutes of the
January 17, 2017 meeting. Director Quick seconded the motion.
The motion carried unanimously.
3. RECEIVE UPDATE FROM EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR TRACY SCHORNACK ON
SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION COUNT INCLUDING NUMBER OF RENEWALS AND
NEW SCHOLARSHIP AVALABILITY.
DISCUSSION: Cambridge-348 applications received, 14 renewals, 306 letters
mailed out for scholarships, 6 accepted to date.
Town Lake- 256 applications received, 41 renewals, 7 spots available
for scholarships, 2 accepted to date, one from Southlake Carroll High
4. DISCUSS FULL SCHOLARSHIP AVAILABILITY.
DISCUSSION: Cambridge: 1 Renewal Westlake Academy, 1 New Westlake
Academy, 1 Partial full scholarship for $5,000 was awarded.

5. DISCUSS WESTLAKE ACADEMY SCHOLARSHIP APPLICANTS.
DISCUSSION: Lauren Petersen- Cambridge; Scarlet Oakley-Cambridge
6. DISCUSS AND APPROVE THE REVISED CAMBRIDGE BUDGET.
DISCUSSION: Added Utilities line item for fee assessed by the city of College
Station for $1,196/month.
MOTION: President Bradley made a motion to approve the revised
Cambridge budget, Director Quick seconded the motion.
The motion passed unanimously.
7. EXECUTIVE SESSION
President Bradley adjourned to executive session at 7:36 pm.
The Council will conduct a closed session pursuant to Texas Government Code,
annotated, Chapter 551, Subchapter D for the following:
a. Sec. 551.071 Consultation with Attorney (1) when the governmental body
seeks the advice of its attorney (A) pending or contemplated litigation: or
(B) a settlement offer: ITG Fund Manager
b. Section 551.074(a)(1): Deliberation Regarding Personnel Matters —to
deliberate the appointment, employment, evaluation, reassignment, duties,
of a public officer or employee: Executive Director
S. RECONVENE MEETING
President Bradley reconvened meeting at 8:02 pm.
9. TAKE ANY ACTION, IF NEEDED, FROM EXECUTIVE SESSION ITEMS.
DISCUSSION: Item A- No Action Taken
Item B- See Motion Below
MOTION: Director Fisher made a motion that since the Executive
Director receives no benefits other than salary, that the
Salary shall be increased to compensate for the loss of
Benefits normally given to Town of Westlake employees.
Director Quick seconded the motion. The motion passed with 3
Votes, Director Harrow abstained.

10. RECEIVE UPDATE FROM BRYANT FISHER REGARDING WESTLAKE ACADEMY
CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT ASSISTANCE. REVIEW AND TAKE ACTION AS
NECESSARY.
DISCUSSION: No Update from Director Fisher
11. ADJOURNMENT Meeting adjourned at 8:17 pm.
