Rebecca Lawton: Former Head Curator of the Amon Carter Museum, Ft. Worth
Rebecca Lawton is an independent art consultant in Fort Worth. During a 30+ year career
as an art museum curator, she has worked for the Delaware Art Museum in Wilmington,
Delaware, the Loeb Art Center at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York, and from
2000 to 2016, as the curator of paintings and sculpture at the Amon Carter Museum of
American Art. From 2006 to 2011, she served as a commissioner for Fort Worth’s Public
Art program, and from 2007 to 2016, she served on the Art Advisory Committee for the
Internal Revenue Service.
Judy Deaton: Head Curator of the Grace Museum, Abilene
Judy Tedford Deaton, Chief Curator and Director of Exhibitions and Collections, has been curating
exhibitions and overseeing the art and history collections at The Grace Museum since 2006. She is
responsible for concept development, installation and interpretation of twelve art exhibitions and
two history exhibitions annually. She is an author, art historian, frequent guest speaker, art
consultant, art juror and panelist at museums and conferences such as American Alliance of
Museums, Contemporary Art Dealers of Dallas, Mountain Plains Museum Association and the
Center for the Advancement and Study of Early Texas Art (CASETA). Deaton was a member for
the 2015 Arts Create Grant Panel for the Texas Commission on the Arts and recently featured in
articles in National Endowment for the Humanities, Humanities publication, Western Art Collector
and on Glasstire. She is also the recipient of CASETA awards for outstanding publications and
exhibitions in 2014, 2015 and 2016 and The Mountain-Plains Museums Association’s 2009 highest
award for exhibition publications. Before joining The Grace staff, Deaton was an associate professor
of art history and gallery director at McMurry University (1995-2006). She earned a BA from the
University of Texas Austin and an MFA in art history from Southern Methodist University where
she was a recipient of the SMU Meadows Artistic Scholarship Graduate Award in Art History.
Sue Canterbury: Associate Curator of American Art, Dallas Museum of Art, Dallas
Patricia “Sue” Canterbury has been appointed The Pauline Gill Sullivan Associate Curator of
American Art at the Dallas Museum of Art, it was announced today by Olivier Meslay, the DMA’s
Interim Director and its Senior Curator of European and American Art and The Barbara Thomas
Lemmon Curator of European Art. She will begin work in Dallas on September 19, 2011.
Canterbury comes to the Dallas Museum of Art from the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, where she
was the Associate Curator in the Department of Paintings from 1998 to earlier this year. Canterbury
has extensive knowledge of late-nineteenth and early-twentieth century American art and the role of
transatlantic exchange between the art centers of Europe and the United States. Her masters’
thesis, James McNeill Whistler's The Gold Scab: Eruption in ‘Frilthy’ Lucre, explored Whistler's
relationship with his first great patron, Frederic Leyland. In Minneapolis, Canterbury served as
curator for a number of exhibitions held at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts including Noble
Dreams & Simple Pleasures: American Masterworks from Minnesota Collections, Beauford
Delaney: From New York to Paris, Georgia O’Keeffe: Circling Around Abstraction, and Villa
America: American Moderns 1900–1950. Prior to her appointment in Minneapolis, she worked as
an Assistant Curator at the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute.

Canterbury earned her Master of Arts in the History of Art from Williams College in Williamstown,
Massachusetts, where she was awarded the Judith M. Lenett Memorial Fellowship. She received her
undergraduate degrees in Art History from Wellesley College, where she was awarded the Plogsterth
Prize in Art History and graduated magna cum laude.
Terry Oldham: Former Director of the Albrecht Kemper Museum, Kansas City
Oldham earned his Master of Arts (with honors), University of Kansas, Master of Business
Administration, University of Hawaii, and Bachelor of Science, University of Kansas. Currently
Terry serves as the Executive Director, Albrecht-Kemper Museum of Art in Missouri. His
previous experience includes serving as Director of Art Programs, Curator of Education, and as
Interim Assistant Director at the Museum of Art Tallahassee (Now the Mary Brogan Center of Art
and Science). He is a current member of the International Society of Appraisers

Cheryl Vogel: Owner of Valley House Gallery, Dallas
Cheryl Vogel is the Curator and Co-Director of Valley House Gallery in Dallas which was founded
in 1954 by her father-in-law Donald Vogel. Cheryl holds a BA in art history from Southern
Methodist University where she also did graduate work in same field. As an art history graduate
student, Cheryl began her work at Valley House in 1978 and now directs gallery operations as well
the gallery’s 4.2 acre sculpture garden with her husband Kevin, the son of the founder. Vogel has
organized exhibitions in the gallery and throughout the 4+ acre garden for over 25 years. Cheryl
and her husband Kevin Vogel have directed design changes to the garden since the 2005 when
their landscape architect Erika Farkac Vogel retired and now collaborate with Tary Arterburn,
principal of StudioOutside. She has juried exhibitions, served on numerous Beaux Art Ball art
committees for the Dallas Museum of Art, curated many exhibitions at Valley House and for
Texas museums, published catalogues on many artists for Valley House, exhibited at art fairs since
1989 in New York, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Miami, San Antonio, and Dallas, and lectured on
art. She was the art editor of the Langdon Review of the Arts in Texas from 2005 to 2015. In
2012 she lectured on residential sculpture placement at the ASLA convention. She works closely
with artists and collectors in placing sculpture in outdoor and indoor settings. The Vogel family
was the recipient of the Dallas Visual Art Center’s Legend Award in 1999. Valley House Gallery
will celebrates its 63rd anniversary this Fall.
Paloma Anoveros: Curator for The Charles Schwab Company and former Curator San Francisco
Museum of Art, San Francisco
Paloma Añoveros has been Art Curator at Schwab since 2014 where she directs the strategic
planning and management of the art collection for corporate and retail spaces. Paloma combines
over 25 years of experience working and collaborating with art and historical collections and
exhibitions at the national and international levels, in both non-profit and for-profit environments,
with companies and institutions including Lucasfilm Ltd., San Francisco Museum of Modern Art,
The Barbican Centre in London, The Smithsonian, The Museum of the African Diaspora, Pixar
Animation Studios, the National Japanese American Historical Society, and the Chinese American
Historical Society. She has been associated with University of San Francisco’s Art + Architecture
Department since 2009 as a lecturer and adjunct faculty, training graduate students in art
management. Prior to that, she led the Collections Specialty in the Museum Studies program at
JFK University. She has also presented as speaker and specialist in preservation of cultural
patrimony in Latin America. Paloma holds a B.A. in Art History from Universidad Complutense,
Spain, a degree in Conservation, Spain, a M.A. in Museum Studies from JFKU, and a post-
graduate fellowship at the Fogg Art Museum, Harvard University.

Katie Blair: Senior Design Manager, The Charles Schwab Corporation
Katherine Blair is an Architect and a Senior Designer Manager with Charles Schwab & Co, where
she manages ongoing design and construction activities for both the Austin and Westlake
Corporate Campuses. Katherine graduated from Kansas State University in 2003 has and 13 years
of experience in the Architectural Design Profession, where she has served as both Project
Manager of Corporate Commercial and Healthcare projects. In addition, she served as Director
of Sustainable Design leading over 6 million square feet of projects to LEED Certification. Her
work on the Texas Instruments R-Fab project was featured on the Discovery Channel and in the
New York Times. Most recently, Katherine has served on the Texas Society of Architects
Sustainable Design Committee as Committee Chair and has lectured at events ranging from the
Texas Society of Architects Convention and University of Texas – Dallas.
Chris Worley: Owner of Chris Worley Fine Art
In 2010, Chris Worley opened Chris Worley Fine Arts in Dallas, a contemporary art gallery
specializing in premiere Texas artists and national artists of note. Worley moved from Seattle to
Dallas in the late 1990’s to pursue a Master’s degree in Art History at Southern Methodist
University. From there, she graduated with a focus in the mythic iconography of ancient Etruria.
Worley has 17 years of experience as a contemporary fine art gallery director, including seven
years at the internationally known Pan American Art Projects. She is an active member of the local
arts community and is a charter member of the Contemporary Art Dealers of Dallas. Likewise, she
has served as guest juror for numerous exhibitions and art awards, and has served as guest panelist
and lecturer on various art-related topics. In conjunction with the gallery, she also provides art
advisory services to her collectors.
