HomeMy WebLinkAbout12-12-12 WHPS MinMINUTES OF THE WESTLAKE HISTORICAL PRESERVATION SOCIETY Westlake History Museum 3 Village Circle, Suite 104 PRESENT: President Bert Schultz, Megan Brady, Jim Budarf, Kristi Layton, Karen Stoltenberg, Stephen Thornton 1. CALL TO ORDER. President Schultz called the meeting to order at 1:33 P.M. 2. MEETING MINUTES Member Stoltenberg reviewed the minutes. MOTION: Member Budarf made a motion to approve the minutes. Member Layton seconded the motion. The motion carried. 3. TREASURER'S REPORT Member Layton read the treasurer's report. There were a couple of questions about it, so President Schultz and Member Layton are going to meet with Debbie Piper to get some clarification. 4. MEMBERSHIP REPORT Member Layton updated us on memberships. MOTION: Member Layton made a motion for memberships to be yearly (calendar year) beginning January 2013. Member Stoltenberg seconded the motion. The motion carried. S. OLD BUSINESS a) 2012 Classic Car Show Report — President Schultz gave the car show report. WHPS Minutes 12/12/2013 Page 1 of 3 b) Fall Living History Presentation Report — President Schultz gave a report about the Evening with Mr. and Mrs. Wyatt Earp. It was very lightly attended with only 12 members and 12 non-members. The Board discussed and decided to let it go if there are not 50 or more people at the Spring Living History Presentation. 6. NEW BUSINESS a) 1Ci 2013 Museum Window Exhibit — The current exhibit will be taken down the last week of December, and the first quarter exhibit will be from Westlake Academy Art. January will feature grades 10, 11, 12; February will feature grades 7, 8, 9; and March will feature grades 4, 5, 6. b) 2013 General Membership Meeting—The meeting will be held Thursday, January 17 at the home of Kelly and Scott Bradley. It will consist of coffee, dessert, and a home tour. President Schultz will recap our year, and he would like to give an award for Volunteer of the Year. Kelly will ask Connor Smith if he can play piano for background music. The Bradleys will provide everything but the desserts. President Schultz will provide lemon bars, Member Budarf will provide a dessert, Member Brady will provide 2 desserts, and Member Stoltenberg will provide 2 desserts. c) Spring Living History Presentation — It will be held Tuesday, March 5, 2013, and it will be the History of the Pony Express. d) Spring 2013 Historical Marker Dedication Day — It will be held April 6, 2013 at the Possum Trot School, the intersection of Pearson Lane and Dove Road. e) Jr. Historians— President Schultz will attend the next meeting with Member Brady. 7. TROPHY CLUB PARTICIPATION President Schultz and Member Budarf will meet with Wanda Brewster. The next meeting will be held Monday, January 28, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. at the Museum.
