HomeMy WebLinkAbout04-10-95 TSHC Min (2) NOTES OF THE TEXAS STUDENT HOUSING CORPORATION 3 VILLAGE CIRCLE SUITE 207 WESTLAKE, TEXAS 76262 APRIL 10, 1995 The Board of the Texas Student Housing Corporation met in a workshop on April 10, 1995 at the Marriott Solana Hotel in the Westlake Board Room. Board Members Present: Jim Carter President Worth Blake Vice President Abe Bush, Jr. Secretary William Branum Treasurer Board members Wolston, Schubert, Wall and Watson were unable to attend. General Counsel Scott Bradley was also in attendance. 1. All funds will be made payable to the university/college of choice. 2. All relatives of the Board of Directors are ineligible for scholarships. The definition of relative is attached. 3 . Eligibility requirements to make application: a. Attend either Carroll High, Keller High or Northwest High school. b. Must be in top 25% of class 4. Scholarship criteria to be evaluated by screening committee a. Citizen of Westlake (will have additional weight) b. SAT & ACT Scores c. Leadership ability d. Financial Need e. Character f. Extracurricular activities g. Volunteer work done h. Previous paid employment i. Personal interview 5. The following items must accompany the application: a. Letter of acceptance from university b. Essay of 250 words or less stating why you want and need scholarship funds c. High school transcript 6. Screening Committee will consist of a superintendent and at least one board member who will screen the applications of the students not in their school system or in the town where the student resides. 7 . As of April 12 , 1995 the total number of high school seniors in the three districts is 837 . 4 CARROLL HIGH = 192 8 KELLER HIGH = 445 4 NORTHWEST HIGH = 200 8. The value of each scholarship is $2, 000. 00.
