Item 3: Architectural Styles
•Rooted from the prevalent campus architecture we see
in Westlake today (Deloitte, Fidelity) commonly referred
to as “Simple Gabled Box”
•Disassembly of the Box
•Breaks “containment” of the box using glass/glazed
skins
•Containment expressed as masonry walls
•Gives relationship from the building interior to the
exterior
•Most prominent on DFW-2 and DFW-A on the
lakeside
Item 3: Architectural Styles
•Transformation of Roof to Canopy
•Moves roof from a sharp edge feature to a more rounded feature
•Gives a floating appearance
•Dissociation of Canopy from Box
•Accomplishes floating appearance of roof by extending the glazing upward
•Masonry and roof separated by glazing
•Disassociation of Entry Identification to Masonry
•Articulated separations occur at entry points to the building giving an expressive ornamental feature
Item 3: Architectural
Challenges
•Presents a challenging and compelling LOD
that fits with the already established
corporate campuses in Westlake
•Sets standards for future campus buildings
in Westlake
•Parking Garage
•Mitigated flatness and expansive
external wall by emphasizing corners,
articulating entry points, and creating
complexity
