MINUTES OF THE
WESTLAKE HISTORICAL PRESERVATION SOCIETY
MARCH 17,2015

PRESENT: President Stephen Thornton,Wanda Brewster, Laurel Mason, Paula Thornton,Jon White
ABSENT: Rob Meyer, Daniel Zipperlen
1. CALL TO ORDER.
President Thornton called the meeting to order at 7:03 P.M.
2. REVIEW AND APPROVE MINUTES OF THE WHPS MEETING HELD ON FEBRUARY 3,2015.
Member Brewster read the minutes. President Thornton asked for a motion to approve.
MOTION: Member Mason made a motion to approve the minutes. Member White seconded
the motion. The motion carried.
3. TREASURER'S REPORT.
Member Brewster presented the February 28, 2015 financial statement. There were no changes
since the January 3152 statement. The current balance is$7,527.61. President Thornton asked
for a motion to accept the report.
MOTION: Member Thornton made a motion to accept the Treasurer's report. Member White
seconded the motion. The motion carried.
4. OLD BUSINESS
Purchase of video camera:
President Thornton reported that a Sony video camera and extra SD card have been purchased
by Daniel Zipperlen using Susan McFarland's town credit card. We expect to purchase a tripod
soon. The camera has already been used to capture the interview of Cory Priest for the story of
Circle T ranch.

5. NEW BUSINESS AND COMMITTEE REPORTS.
Membership Reception:
The Annual Member Reception will be held Friday, March 20, 2015 at the Marriott Solana. The
reception will offer wine and assorted cheeses for a cost of$500. Paula Thornton, Laurel Mason
and Susan McFarland created an elegant invitation which was mailed to all present and past
members of WHPS, approximately 80 invitations in total. They have received over 20 RSVPs to
date.
Membership:
Laurel Mason reported that we will have membership forms at the Member Reception but we
will not press people to join.
MOTION: Wanda Brewster made a motion to offer the History Book at a special price of$30
when members join or renew their membership this year. Paula Thornton seconded the
motion. The motion carried.
Historical Marker Dedication Day:
Dedication day for the Circle T Ranch historical marker is scheduled for Saturday,April 11, 2015
at 1:00 PM. Paula Thornton is the chairperson. She will be meeting with the Town to
coordinate plans for the event.
Museum Exhibits:
Stephen Thornton reported that our first traveling exhibit,the "Contours of Texas" collection of
maps, has been installed at TD Auto Finance on Roanoke Road. The company has a good
location for the exhibit near their cafe and it is accessible to the public by checking in at their
reception desk.
6. ADJOURNMENT
President Thornton asked for a motion to adjourn the meeting.
MOTION: Member Brewster made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Member White seconded
the motion. The motion carried.
President Thornton adjourned the meeting at 8:28 P.M.
The next scheduled meeting of the Westlake Historical Preservation Society Board will be
Tuesday,April 7, 2015 at 7:00 PM.
