HomeMy WebLinkAboutIdeas for Residency Policy AmendmentsDRAFT RESIDENCY POLICY AMENDMENT 3 3 17 Admission to Westlake Academy as a primary-boundary resident requires residency within the Town of Westlake. However, for situations where a student’s home is to be constructed in Westlake, a student may initially establish residency and enroll in Westlake Academy as a primary-boundary resident subject to the following stipulations: • Submission of a fully-executed real estate earnest money contract or purchase contract for the home to be constructed in the Town of Westlake. • A building permit approved by the Town of Westlake for said home with the home foundation to be complete within sixty (60) calendar days from the date of building permit issuance and documentation of an anticipated completion date within the same school year during which the student seeks to enroll. Exceptions may be granted by the Superintendent if evidence deemed sufficient by the Superintendent is presented justifying reasonable extensions to the original completion date. As a guideline, extensions will not be granted which exceed ninety (90) calendar days. • Submission by the homeowner of verification, deemed sufficient by the Town, of completion of major construction milestones for the home including, but not limited to, framing, dry wall, masonry, roofing, plumbing, and electrical work. Responsibility for providing documentation to the Town as to the attainment of these milestones is the homeowner’s responsibility. Failure to provide any or all of these milestone verifications could result in the Academy unilaterally un- enrolling the student. Conditional admittance as a Westlake resident is predicated upon satisfying the requirements of this policy. If those requirements are not met, the student’s enrollment status as a primary-boundary resident is revoked and the student will be withdrawn at the end of the semester for which conditional admittance was granted. The student may re-apply for admission to the extent the student is able to otherwise establish residency as a primary-boundary student or seeks enrollment as a secondary- boundary student.
