HomeMy WebLinkAboutEndorsements Revisited presentationGraduation Endorsements Revisited Stacy Stoyanoff DP Principal Carl Tippen College Counselor February 6, 2017 WA Strategic Objectives WA Graduation Endorsement under HB5 MULTIDISCIPLINARY STUDIES REQUIREMENT A student must complete ONE of the following: (2) Four credits in each of the four foundation subject areas to include English IV and chemistry and/or physics. WA Equivalent Current 4 x 4 graduation sequence OR (3) Four credits in AP, IB, or dual credit selected courses from English, mathematics, science, social studies, economics, LOTE, or fine arts. WA Equivalent 6 DP courses over 2 years (12.0) AWARDED Multiple Endorsements §74.13. Endorsements (g)A course completed as part of the set of four courses needed to satisfy an endorsement requirement may also satisfy a requirement under §74.12(b) and (c) of this title and subsection (e)(2), (4), (5), and (6) of this section, including an elective requirement. The same course may count as part of the set of four courses for more than one endorsement. Should we award the Arts & Humanities endorsement? ARTS & HUMANITIES REQUIREMENT A student must complete ONE of the following: (1) A total of five social studies credits. WA Equivalent AP Human Geography (1.0) AP World History (1.0) IB History (2.0) Government (0.5) Economics (0.5) OR (2) Four levels of the same language in a language other than English. WA Equivalent Language B 1, 2, 3, and 4 Should we AWARD? CTE Pipelines Should we award the STEM endorsement? Science Technology Engineering Mathematics REQUIREMENT A student must complete Algebra II, Chemistry, and Physics and ONE of the following: (3) A total of five credits in mathematics by successfully completing Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, and two additional mathematics courses for which Algebra II is a prerequisite. WA Equivalent Algebra 1 (1.0) Geometry (1.0) Algebra 2 (1.0) AQR or Pre-calculus (1.0) Math Studies or Math SL/HL (1.0) OR (4) A total of five credits in science by successfully completing biology, chemistry, and physics, and two additional science courses. WA Equivalent Biology (1.0) Chemistry (1.0) Physics (1.0) plus IB Biology (2.0) or IB Chemistry (2.0) or IB Physics (2.0) or IB ESS plus another science Should we AWARD? Should we award Business & Industry endorsement? BUSINESS & INDUSTRY REQUIREMENT A student must complete ONE if the following: (1) A coherent sequence of courses for four or more credits in CTE. The final course in the sequence must be selected from one of the following CTE clusters (Business). WA Equivalent Problems & Solutions (1.0) Professional Communications (0.5) Principles of Business, Marketing, and Finance (0.5) Business Management (1.0) Must ADD additional (1.0) elective (e.g. Global Business) Should we plan to AWARD? Should we award Public Service (Health Sciences)? PUBLIC SERVICE REQUIREMENT A student must complete ONE of the following: (1) A coherent sequence of courses for four or more credits in CTE. The final course in the sequence must be selected from one of the following CTE clusters (Health Sciences).
