HomeMy WebLinkAbout04-08-02 PZ Min146 Minutes of the Zoning Board of Adjustment meeting TOWN OF WESTLAKE, TEXAS MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE ZONING BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT April 8, 2002 Don Redding, Member Fred Held, Member Bill Frey, Member Larry Sparrow, Member Buddy Brown, Member Trent Petty, Town Manager Stan Lowry, Town Attorney Ginger Crosswy, Town. Secretary Absent: No one. Item #1: Mr. Redding called the meeting to order at 6:35 p.m. by announcing a quorum. Item #2: Consider an application V-02-01 filed by Maguire Partners for a variance to the Town's sign standards. Richard Kuhlman spoke representing the applicant. Mr. Petty addressed the Board on this item. After a lengthy question and answer session, Mr. Sparrow made the following motion. In granting a variance for a sign for the Marriott Hotel the Board recognizes that a hardship exists. This variance will affect Article X, 12.313, 12.2D, 12.2G and 12.513 of the UDC concerning size, square footage and lighting. The standard size for a letter is now 12 inches and this applicant is requesting a size of 5 feet, 5 inches with the square footage of the sign to be 160 square feet. The lighting is to be reflective only with the sign being visible from SH 114 only. The color of the sign is to be "Richmond Bisque." The motion was seconded by Mr. Brown. There was no discussion and the motion carried unanimously. Item 43: Consider an application V-02-02 filed by Maguire Partners for a variance to the Town's sign standards. Mr. Kuhlman addressed the Board concerning an informational sign to located at the intersection of Kirkwood Boulevard and Sam School Road. Mr. Petty spoke regarding this item. There was a motion made by Mr. Sparrow, seconded by Mr. Held, that the Board recognizes a hardship and is approving the request for a sign variance under the conditions, (1) the sign be only 8 feet in height, (2) not exceed 55 square feet and (3) be consistent with the sign that is already on Kirkwood Boulevard. After several questions the motion carried unanimously. Item #4: Motion by Mr. Held, seconded by Mr. Brown, to adjourn. The motio unanimously and L e meeting adjourned at 7:13 p.m. c Don Fed -ding.
