MINUTES OF THE MEETING
OF THE ZONING BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT
July 22, 2002

Item #1: Mr. Held called the meeting to order at 6:32 p.m. by announcing a quorum of Mr. Frey, Mr.
Sparrow, Mr. Brown and himself.
Item #2: conduct a Public Hearing to consider application V-02-04 filed by the Town requesting a variance
regarding the time restriction on a temporary structure for the Westlake Fire/Rescue. Mr. Petty explained
this item and introduced Greg Tucker, the Town's Emergency Services Coordinator. Mr. Petty told the
Board that the Town had received a letter from Dr. Joseph Bonola and his wife. The letter was entered into
the record. Mr. Petty then addressed some of the issues raised in the letter. The public hearing was opened at
6:32 p.m. Dr. Bonola of 1109 Smethwick Cove in Keller, stated that he owns the adjoining property and
spoke in opposition. After a lengthy discussion the public hearing was closed at 7:01 p.m. There was a
motion by Mr. Sparrow, seconded by Mr. Frey, to find that a hardship exists and thus approve the variance
request for a two year time period but with the stipulation that staff come back to the Board of Aldermen at
the end of one year with a definite plan for a permanent solution after the two year time period has expired.
There was no discussion and the motion carried unanimously.
Item #3: Motion by Mr. Frey, seconded by Mr. Sparrow, to adjourn. The motion carried unanimously and
the meeting adjourned at 7:02 p.m.
These minutes were approved on August 12, 2002.
