RECOMMENDATIONS Staff recommends approval. The following are recommended additions and changes to the school uniform policy currently found on page 23 of the 2004-05 Parent/Student Handbook; Uniform Policy: • Pg. 23; (5.) Tennis shoes must be all white with white laces to be added. • Pg. 23; (11.) The dress uniform will include an optional navy blazer. The blazer will be required for students participating in certain extra -curricular activities such as choir, Model United Nations, etc. but will be optional for all other students. • Pg. 23; (12.) Additional optional items will include light weight outerwear in school colors purchased from the official supplier for Westlake Academy uniforms. This will be the only accepted outerwear allowed on the school campus with the exception of rainwear or heavy winter coats. A style change is also being recommended that requires staff to notify the new provider in advance. These changes are: • flat -front pants for all grades • a new jumper style with a drop waist for K -G5 These additions/changes to the uniform options are more in line with the current styles, are more attractive to students and parents and give additional options that will help to ensure that the uniform policy is followed and children look neat at all times. We will have additional recommendations to present at a later date noting the new provider, their website, and our ID Code for ordering. This information is not yet available. However, the changes regarding uniforms need to be adopted now to afford the manufacturer adequate time to provide the garments. The recommend changes are noted on the attached page for replacement in your current handbook if the above items are approved. FUNDING No impact to the budget for these changes.
