A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN OF WESTLAKE SUPPORTING THE CITY
OF SOUTHLAKE'S REQUEST TO THE TEXAS TRANSPORTATION
COMMISSION FOR LEVEL III AUTHORITY FOR STATE HIGHWAY 114
BETWEEN DOVE ROAD AND BUSINESS 114 LOOP AND LEVEL I
AUTHORITY FOR STATE HIGHWAY 114 BETWEEN BUSINESS 114 LOOP
AND THE DALLAS COUNTY LINE AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, the State Highway 114 Corridor serves as the main arterial connector for Northeast
Tarrant County and South Denton County to the Downtown Dallas area; and
WHEREAS, existing traffic congestion through this corridor is evident on a daily basis; and
WHEREAS, rapid growth currently experienced in the Northeast Tarrant County and South
Denton County area will only exacerbate the congestion problems in this corridor; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Westlake finds and concludes that it is in the best interests of public
health, safety and general welfare of the citizens of Northeast Tarrant County and South Denton
County, that the State Highway 114 corridor be expanded to relieve the existing traffic
congestion as well as provide adequate capacity for anticipated traffic from future development
in this region.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
Section 1. That all of the above premises are found to be true and correct and are incorporated
into the body of this resolution as if copied in their entirety.
Section 2. That the Town of Westlake supports the City of Southlake's request to the Texas
Transportation Commission that State Highway 114 between Dove Road and Business 114 Loop
be approved for Level III Authorization and that State Highway 114 between Business 114 Loop
and the Dallas County Line be approved for Level I Authorization.
Section 3. That this resolution shall become effective immediately from and after the date of
its passage.
