Board Meeting Minutes
February 13, 2009
Attending: Leah Rennhack, Julie Timmerman, Deborah Ziegler, Chris Noonan, Karen Osborne, Colleen
Hess, Mark Rosevear, John Awtry, Angie Gofredo
L Leah Rennhack, President called the meeting to order at 8:35 am.
IL Minutes from the January 9, 2009 Board Meeting were tabled until March.
III. Deborah Ziegler gave the Financial Report for the month of January.
• $31,916 came in for the Blacksmith Apprentice Program
• There is $989,818.43 in cash for the Capital Campaign.
• The unrestricted cash balance is $51,788
IV. Liaisons Reports
A. Mark Rosevear, Head of School, gave a school update.
• Mark reported that things were moving ahead with the strategic plan. He will be
presenting it to the Board of Trustees soon.
• 20 new students started at the second semester. Most were in 8th and 9th grade.
• Graduation for 2010 is tentatively set for May 23, 2010. In order to prepare for the
senior year a company came and spoke to Mr. Kai about rings and graduation
information.
• The lottery will be held on 2/26. There are 850 on the lottery list.
• Statistics for the number of people who left last year. Nine total left the school, five
left because they moved out of state, 2 left because of sports, and 2 left in Aug.
B. Mark Rosevear gave the Town report on behalf of Tom Brymer.
• Construction plans for Deloitte are moving ahead.
• Community outreach dinners are being planned for Glenwyck and Stage Coach.
C. John Awtry ,, Speaker of the House of Commons, gave the HOC update.
• Bandana Bonanza is planned for May 2nd from 4:00 —8:00.
• John also gave a brief WAAC update. The end of year party will be separated this
year. PYP will have a pizza party and the MYP and DP will have a more formal event
like last year. Plans are underway.
V. Capital Campaign report given by Angie Gofredo and Leah Rennhack.
A. Gifts &Pledges to date: $983,224 in cash and a total of $1,396,575 in cash and
pledges.
B. Construction is moving along. They will be pouring the concrete soon.
VI. Leah Rennhack gave the President's Report.
• Leah reported to the board about the upcoming event in September, the Vaquero
Baja.
• The event will take place on Sept. 14th. It will be a cross country golf tournament and
following will be a gathering at the club with heavy appetizers.
• Auction packages are being secured and will be exclusive packages.
• More details will come as it progresses.
VII. Angie Gofredo gave the Executive Director report.
• Angie reported that to date we have $43,000 in sponsors for Gallery Night.
• The event will be next Friday. Packages are being put together for the auction.
• The invitations and programs were donated.
• The auctioneer is a professional and is donating his time.
• There are approximately 180 attending as of today.
VIII. Other Business —no other business was reported.
IX. Next Meeting: March 13, 2009 - 8:30 am in the Dining Hall at the school.
