BOARD MEETING
MINUTES
July 22, 2009
ATENDEES: Mike Silliman, Kelly Cox, Debra Hale, Dave Rollins,
Kay Anderson
ABSENT: Shannon LaRue, Leah Rennhack, and Michelle Corson
CALL MEETING TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 7:05 PM.
MINUTES FROM JUNE MEETING
Mike made a motion to approve the minutes from the June meeting. Debra
seconded that motion and all were in favor.
5016
Dave announced that the board's request for a 501 c3 had been approved by
the Town Council. The next step is to have the by-laws approved by the
Town Council, then have the articles incorporated and finally pay a fee.
The board's next focus is to start working on the roadway plan for Precinct
Line. We need to identify who the players are for this project and how to
establish ourselves so we can have an impact on the final plans.
Debra asked to be on the agenda for the August meeting to discuss the
Roadway Plan.
TREASURER'S REPORT
Dave presented the treasurer's report which covered the months May to July.
A check for $100 was added as a result of one new member.
Kay motioned to approve the treasurer's report. Debra seconded the motion
and the motion passed.
WEBSITE
Debra suggested having Sindee Sims work with the board to update the
website.
LOGO PRESENTATION
Debra presented four logos that Sindee Sims designed for the WPAS.
VOTE VIA EMAIL
Debra agreed to send the logo designs to the board members for approval. A
vote will be taken via email regarding each member's first and second
choices for a new logo. Also Debra will ask each member to vote whether
or not to move forward on a new web design and new updates to the
website.
CROW DOCUMENTARY
Kelly reviewed the Crow documentary and said that it is a great introduction
to the collection. The Crow Collection includes art from Japan, China and
India. Kelly suggested tying the event to the Asian celebration that is held in
Dallas or the WPAS could partner with the Westlake Academy to host the
event. The board will continue to discuss possibilities for the event.
TOM BRYMER' S REQUEST
Tom Brymer asked Dave if the WPAS would fund a workshop for teachers
at the Westlake Academy. The workshop will provide a team building
exercise using African drums. Dave suggested that the WPAS would get
good exposure because Westlake businesses would be invited to participate
in the morning workshop for the school. Kelly asked who will be the
participants because teachers are not our audience. Dave agreed to find out
more specific information about the event and then email the details to the
board members. He will ask the members to vote on funding the workshop
via email.
AUGUST MEETING
Kelly volunteered to have the next meeting at her home. The meeting will
be on Wednesday, August 19, 2009
ADJOURNMANT
The meeting adjourned at 8:35 PM.
